It takes a graceful kind of courage to step onto the stage - or into the world - in pursuit of a dream. There are many benefits of dancing, but one of the best is the self-confidence that develops when children take lessons and perform for others. When children begin to move confidently and assertively on the dance floor, those qualities also start appearing in daily life. Help your child develop qualities that will turn them into a better leader when they are older this Make Your Dreams Come True Day by enrolling in classes at Tutu School! #MakeYourDreamsComeTrueDay

Continue celebrating Black dancers this month! Did you know Debra Austin was the first Black female dancer to dance at the New York City Ballet when she was just 16? She is also credited as the first Black Principal dancer of a major American Ballet company when she joined the Pennsylvania Ballet as a Principal in 1982. Debra now serves as a Ballet Mistress for Carolina Ballet in Raleigh, NC. (Tutu Fun Fact: Debra Austin was an instrumental mentor and teacher to Tutu School Raleigh and Cary owner Lara O'Brien for her 20-year career at the Carolina Ballet!) Introducing: Our Incredible Faculty... Whether you're joining our outdoor classes, in-studio stable pods, or virtual classes.... SO many great Tutu School teachers to twirl with in the New Year! #FacultyFriday Miss Hayley started dancing at age 10, and while she's studied ballet, jazz and tap, ballet is her favorite style by far! She is currently pursuing a degree in dance at Diablo Valley College while teaching at Tutu School, and inspiring her students to use their imagin...ations. Miss Lillian has been dancing ballet since the age of 6, and she hasn't stopped. At Age 10, she got her ballet wish (and every ballerina's too!) and performed in The Nutcracker. Her favorite ballet stories are The Nutcracker and Sleeping Beauty, so it is no surprise that her favorite part of class is Ballet Story Time! We have loved having Miss Nancy teach at Tutu School off and on over the past few years! She was first part of our faculty while dancing for Contra Costa Ballet as a company dancer. Despite moving to Southern California to pursue a degree in Dance Performance and Biology Education at UC Irvine, she has continued to help us out with our camps and classes whenever she's home. Miss Sarah found her passion for dance at the age of 3 like many of our Tutu Schoolers. She has received many awards at various competitions throughout her training, such as Best Choreographer, Best Technical Dancer, Dancer of the Year, and District Student Recognition Winner for Ballet. Having taught over four years of dance, Miss Sarah is thrilled to continue her passion for ballet with Tutu School. Miss Sierra is our very own Mary Poppins. She's a beautiful dancer, a very experienced nanny, and always brings her bag of tricks to her classes! After being part of our Tutu School family for four years, Miss Sierra is now also our Studio Manager and Staff & Training Coordinator.

Classes resume today! Hooray! With a full year ahead of us, there is a lot of hope and promise for better things to come. This month's new ballet story, La Fille Mal Gardée, comes with a very special message, so appropriately reminding us to stay the course and work hard for the things we love.
