We are THRILLED to announce that we will be carefully reopening for in-person classes with small, stable groups. Streaming classes will also continue for at least a while, for families who feel more comfortable twirling at home. Enroll now, and twirl with us this summer!

Watch Miss Mayerlin from Tutu School Raleigh read one of our favorite ballet stories! Many Tutu School locations are currently learning "Firebird." Did you know... author Misty Copeland made history as the first Black ballerina to be promoted to the rank of Principal Dancer with the prestigious American Ballet Theater in the company's 75-year history? One of Misty's most famous roles was performing the title role of the Firebird, created for her in 2012 by choreographer Alexi Ratmansky. In addition to her dance career, she was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time Magazine and is a spokesperson, public speaker, and role model for thousands of young dancers. At Tutu School, we promise to stand against racial stereotypes on stage and off, and to make sure that our curriculum thoughtfully reflects our values of inclusion and equality.

Representation matters We wanted to share a few of our favorite ballet books for kids that feature dancers of color (including one that’s coming out soon!)

At Tutu School, we are re-committing ourselves to a more diverse and inclusive representation in our imagery and messaging. We celebrate all children and hope to foster an environment of inclusion this International #ChildrensDay and every day.

Like so many families in our Tutu School community, we have been truly heartbroken to see the ongoing racial injustice and inequity highlighted by recent events.... We know that heartbreak isn’t enough, though. We know that although we won’t always get it right, we need to do better. Tutu School is re-committing itself to more diverse and inclusive representation in our imagery and messaging. We promise to stand against racial stereotypes on stage and off, and to make sure that our curriculum thoughtfully reflects our values of inclusion and equality. We will also be deepening our support of opportunities for dancers of color and fighting to bolster their dreams in any and every way we can. To that end, if you are able, please join us by supporting a partner organization very close to our hearts, Brown Girls Do Ballet (link in the comments). We promise that we won’t only wish for a more just world for our students to dance in; we want to actively help build it. (Thank you for the beautiful image, Pointebrush )
