Are you looking for a gift for that someone special? Do they love history? Although the Tustin Area Museum is currently closed, our Museum Gift Shop will be open tomorrow (Saturday) from noon to 3:00pm to sell Tustin and Tustin area books and such. (Yes, we will be enforcing all of the health requirements such as social distancing, masks, etc. to keep you safe!) We are located at 395 El Camino Real, on the corner of Main St. and El Camino Real. Stop by and say hello. Here are a few of the books we have for sale. We have a bunch more!
For almost 45 years, the Tustin Area Historical Society has been collecting, archiving, promoting, and celebrating the history of the Tustin and North Tustin area. We're involved with our local schoolchildren, host our wonderful museum, answer questions for residents, and produce all sorts of informational materials & videos based on our growing collection of Tustin memorabilia and artifacts. Our recent museum renovation will give our visitors an even better idea of what ...Tustin has been like over the last 150 or so years. (We proudly opened briefly and can't wait to reopen, when allowed, to invite you in again!) Member support is critical for us. Our museum, archive, and school assistance are without charge to our visitors and students. We fund all our expenses including rent, utilities, supplies, and printing through memberships and donations. As we start a new membership year, we invite you to partner with us and support all our historical work by joining the Society. You can easily join online by clicking the link below. Thank you for your time and your consideration. We hope to add you to our growing list of people who are proud of our community and the history behind it! http://tustinhistory.com/tustin-history.htm
If you are in the Old Town Tustin area tomorrow so by the Tustin Museum and see if you can find these items. We'll be open from 11:30 until 3:00. Admission is free, bring the kids young and old and we'll let them sit on our 1912 Buick Fire Truck. Great photo op. Hope to see you there.
With the Governor moving Orange County into the purple tier we are going to be closing the museum until further notice.
The Tustin Museum will be open tomorrow from 11 to 3 so if you are in the area stop by and check out the new and improved museum. Bring your kids and we will let them sit up on the firetruck, great photo op.
The Tustin Area Museum has new hours. Tuesdays: 9AM-2PM Wednesdays: 9AM-1PM Thursdays: 9AM-2PM... Saturdays: Noon-3PM Make sure to stop by and check out our newly remodeled museum.
The Tustin Area Museum is opening back up with all the appropriate mask and cleaning guidelines. The historical society spent the shutdown updating the inside and displays of their entire museum and it looks great. (I'll post more photos later.) We are looking for a few greeters to welcome people to the museum which is open just 2 or 3 days a week and for a few hours each day. (You can set your own availability.) You don't need to a trained docent - just someone with a nice smile (behind your mask ). If you're interested, please leave a message on the museum line at 714 731-5701.
With school starting I thought I'd share the new Tustin Schools display.
New display featuring the story of LTA and the hangars and other military related items.
One of the new displays is paying tribute to the athletes from the Tustin area. We have created a slide show on one of our new monitors with cases to display sports related items. If you are, or know of someone that we should include please let us know.
Our museum got a nice write up in the Foothills Sentry newspaper. Here's a link to the article and a link to the paper itself (we're on page 9) http://fbs.advantageinc.com/foothillssentry/082020/ https://www.foothillssentry.com/tustin-area-museum-gets-a-m
Here's a few more photos from our amazing revitalization. We're real close to being done so that when museums can finally open in California, we will knock you...r socks off! We have some amazing project leaders and volunteers making this all a reality and we thank them for that. And a huge thanks to all the donors whose generosity helped make this happen. (Are you a member yet?) See more
Here's a quick update about the progress at the museum.
Here's a quick look inside the museum, as you will see we are still in the process of finalizing the Revitalization Project.
We have a important message for the great City of Tustin . We will be adding a brand new Tustin Sports Hall of Fame exhibit at the Tustin Area Museum as we work towards completing the Museum Revitalization Project! Our cities very own Frostee Rucker and many more will be be apart of our efforts to recognize our home grown talent . There’s no place like Tustin. Thanks for stopping in Frostee to help us as we plan our reopening mid July.
As work continues at the museum we want to keep you updated as to the progress that is being made as we move closer to our Grand Reopening. This video explains what led up to us being able to finish this much needed Museum Revitalization Project.
