Happy Juneteeth Juneteenth is a celebration and commemoration of the day that enslaved people in Galveston, Texas received the news of the Emancipation Proclamation, three years after it had been signed. Juneteenth was recently recognized as a federal holiday, and there is so much work left to be done for the liberation of Black people in the United States. This day is a reminder of how crucial it is to support Black queer and trans people in LGBTQ+ communitiesYou can sup...port Blackness and queerness in Oakland this Pride Month by signing up to volunteer for Oakland Black Pride, taking place on June 24th to June 27th! Gemini Season is flourishing & Pride Month has begun! Gemini Season has been upon us since May 20th and we are already excited by the quick-witted vibes of this social butterfly Air sign. With the Sun transiting Gemini, crucial Gemini traits begin to influence us daily as we step into Pride Month! Gemini season picks up the pace and motivates us after the grounding patience of Taurus season so we invigorate that practicality with adaptability to manage the curveballs l...ife throws at us! Now more than ever, we can embrace how to be: Curious Adaptable Quick Thinking Gemini Season challenges us to be open to a variety of possibilities, pushing the boundaries of what we thought was achievable through curiosity, adaptability, and quick thinking in order to build the world we want to see! Nancy Cárdenas and Harvey Milk were Gemini LGBTQ+ activists that perfectly embraced that Gemini energy applied through public service during the 1970s! Cárdenas was a Mexican actor, poet, writer, and activist who pioneered the gay liberation movement in Mexico. She founded the first gay organization in Mexico, Frente de Liberación Homosexual Mexicano, and headed the first gay pride march in the Plaza de las Tres Culturas. In San Francisco, Milk became the first openly gay elected official in California when he was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. He sponsored a bill banning discrimination in public accommodations, housing, and employment on the basis of sexual orientation, helping shift San Francisco politics. Want to know how YOU can help your community this Gemini season? Curious about ways to support Black LGBTQ+ communities this Pride Month? Sign up to help with Oakland Black Pride the last weekend of June! Want to channel that adaptability while also supporting queer and trans communities? Volunteer at San Francisco Pride ‘s Movie Nights, San Francisco Pride’s in-person come back! Feeling those quick-thinking Gemini vibes? Use those communication and logical thinking skills as a secretary for the American Trans Resource Hub ! The Extra Mile virtual run is a healthy (and socially distant) activity to focus your energy on, while raising critical funds to ensure that Covenant House continues providing safe shelter for youth facing homelessness during the pandemic. On September 12, we will gather virtually for an opening ceremony before taking to the streets from coast-to-coast. You can track your training miles and final run on your fundraising page to share your progress and join in the friendly competition. All funds you raise will benefit your local Covenant House shelter. Which coast is the best coast? We'll find out!

Help support a QT API young person! They are working to become a licensed barber and create a space for queer and trans BIPOC to get amazing haircuts #Repost @lvkcuts_ Hello! My name is Kim Hoang I recently moved to NYC to become a Barber and serve QTBIPOC. Most shops are dominated by cis men that only spread Patriarchy (misogony, homophobia, etc) and the Queer Barber shops that do exist only serve high income white Queers. I’ve been trying to raise the money on my own but due to Covid-19 this has become nearly impossible. Please help me raise the funds to make this dream a reality! #mutualaid #queerbarber

Take action today in support of Black trans people in the Bay! The San Francisco Board of Supervisors is reviewing the City budget. They need to close a $1.5 billion budget deficit. Protect our trans programs! Call the SF Board of Supervisors TODAY, Monday, August 24 from 10 am - 5 pm to give public comments to keep trans programs funded.... State your support to redistribute funding from law enforcement to Black-led and Black trans-led organizations. Instructions on how to call in: sfbos.org/remote-meeting-call Sample script, you will have up to 2 minutes: "Hello, my name is ___________ [speaking on behalf of organization, if applicable], and I am calling to urge you to maintain funding for transgender-led services and organizations. Any cuts to trans services would be devastating to our community as we need housing, food and healthcare more than ever. [list specific services] I also support the Budget Justice Coalition call to redirect funding from the law enforcement to Black-led and Black trans-led organizations." *Be prepared to wait for an indeterminate amount of time to comment. Urgent: Take action against the Trump Administration’s policy attacking trans folks experiencing homelessness! From @nclrights: On Friday, July 23, 2020, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) proposed a new rule that would gut protections for transgender people seeking safe shelter. This rule would strip away current protections that prohibit federally-funded homeless shelters from discriminating against transgender people. The new rule permits shelters to d...iscriminate, which will result in needless suffering and death. No one should be denied access to a homeless shelter because of who they are. The Trump administration continues to launch cruel and dehumanizing attacks on LGBTQ individuals, especially transgender people, and people living in poverty. Today, we can advocate for the most marginalized in our communities and ensure their ability to access shelters is protected. This proposed rule is open to public comment until 11:59 PM EST, Tuesday, September 22nd, 2020. Use the form linked in the graphic to submit your comment. Thank you for speaking out! #transrights #volunteerqueer #housingsaveslives #housingforall
