It is amazing to me how many leaders are afraid to show any sign of weakness or the need for improvement. I sure do not want a leader who feels they have all the answers because that is a leader without an inspired and dedicated team. Your leadership journey must include vulnerability-based trust. One of the worst phrases in leadership is I am too busy to Unfortunately, this is all too often the case when I ask leaders if they have checked in with their teams. I am often told by those in leadership roles how busy they are and that checking in just to see how the team is doing is not productive. They could not be more wrong. Checking in, genuinely caring about how your team is doing, is a loud and clear statement that you care.
