Our campers have been troopers all summer! Lots of changes and restrictions, but everyday we saw nothing but smiles and eagerness to do whatever we had planned for the day! Friday was no different! We set out to do a hike in Dana Point and then check out the Dana Point caves, unfortunately the trail was closed, so we did a fun walk to Strand Beach, and when we got to the area to hike to our the caves, the lifeguard just happen to close the path! Instead of being upset, they got excited to play on the rocks and get a little wet! One camper said, I am glad the hike failed, this was more fun! Again we have the best summer campers ever!
Yesterday we went on a beach hike to the tide pools! We saw hermit crabs , and larger crabs , and lots of anemones. After we enjoyed the waves and watching surfers at Doheny Beach!
Yesterday on campus we made zoetropes, and learned a little bit about coding! It was an adventurous day!
Yesterday we went back to the kids favorite trip of the summer for the last time! Newport Dunes water park was voted by the kids as there absolute favorite, and it didn’t disappoint yesterday! They swam, climbed, bounce, slid and faced some fears.
On Friday we tried our hand in another Olympic Sport, Golfing! They all did a really good job so we celebrated with shakes from Ruby’s
Today we swam, climbed, slid and splash! Newport Dunes did not disappoint! It was a bit colder in the morning, but all the campers jumped right in!!! We were so impressed by so many who faced fears, and climbed higher, swam further or jumped more than ever before!
Today we had a blast at Zoomars! We pet so many animals, we rode a train we mined for gold & gems and some of us got to use the new excavators! It was a great adventure!
We zoomed all around Mile Square Park on our bikes and scooters today! These campers did great! We also played Jump the River, and cooled off in water fountain! It was a just a fun day!
Day one of Olympics week! Today we practiced our swimming and high jumps at that beach! Some of us even worked on our gymnastics by doing splits and cartwheels!
Today we cruised around Newport Harbor in a Pontoon Boat. We were all ecstatic to see a couple of Bottlenose Dolphins and a ton of Moon Jellies! It was a beautiful day on the water!
Today we had told the campers that the chances are finding and seeing a whale is very low. They hadn’t seen a whale out there all week! But with a little luck we not only got to see a whale we got the show of a lifetime! We got to see Twitch the Humpback Whale. He came out to eat and he put on a show, by breaching fully out of the water! We also found a huge pod of dolphins!!
Today we explored the ocean and it’s sea life! Off campus we took a zodiac boat and went on an ocean adventure looking for sea animals! We saw lots of Sea Lions and hundreds of Dolphins (Common and Bottlenose)! We all thought the boat was better than an amusement park ride! On campus today we enjoyed learning all about Marine Life from our OceansRock presentation! We made shark tooth necklaces, we dug for fossils and got to see so many cool Ocean fossils and items!
Yesterday we had fun cruise around the harbor looking for Sea lions, we found some and we found lots of dolphins ! On campus we made Megalodon Tooth paste and our own shark catchers! We found a great natural way to practice social distancing with, 6ft seaweed!
