Georgie the Turkey Creek Goose Chaser With a heavy heart, I wanted to let everyone know that Georgie, the Turkey Creek Golf course dog, had a metastasis of bone cancer return to her other (good) back leg. She couldn’t run anymore and had been struggling to walk for the last several weeks, and this last Thursday (Earth Day) she went to the big, green golf course in the sky. Many of you know how she had continued to persevere after her first bout of cancer in her right leg, a...nd how she returned to the golf course as a tripod; she had so much courage, joy and perseverance to continue to come to work and carry on as if nothing had happened. She was such a friendly, fun loving dog; she loved to greet golfers with her brown eyes, big smile and a tail wag; it didn’t matter if you knew her or you just met her for the first time--she was your friend and would hop into your golf cart to see what you had for her; she was a notorious beggar! Her real job was to chase the geese, and in her heyday, she would jump out of the cart at full speed and chase a flock of geese down a couple of fairways before she moved on to a squirrel or a pack of deer which she loved to chase, also. Georgie loved working at Turkey Creek! I could go on with so many stories about this wonderful dog and those of you who got to see her on a regular basis know what I’m talking about; she has left so many paw prints on my heart! I want to thank all of the golfers and staff of Turkey Creek Golf club for your love and support for Georgie; she went through six rounds of chemotherapy and lots of medication that helped her to carry on for another year. We did a Go Fund Me page, and in one week, we raised over $7000 to help pay for her medical costs of her surgery last year. We are very thankful for having another year (6 or 7 dog years!) with our precious dog. I just want to personally thank all of you for your help, support, and love for her. Want to share some of the cultural practices we completed the last couple of weeks! First, we aerated all the roughs and fairways using the Aerway 6" vertical slicer. After that, we sliced the fairways again with a Ryan Renonair which is another slicing machine that slices about 4" in depth, followed with a fairway mowing. We are now in the process of applying gypsum to amend the soils; this will really help the hard, compacted areas on the fairways and improve turf conditions this spring and summer. We also installed a gypsum injector to help in apply gypsum when we start irrigating. Lots of improvements planned for the coming season; great to have the resources from Wilson Golf Management to keep improving the golf course! Win, win! Mike Kaveney, Superintendent

Since we have been under new management: the owners and Wilson Golf Management have been putting a lot of money and resources into the club, which has allowed us to complete a lot of projects this season. Back in August the club parking lot was seal coated and completely restriped. The driving range tee was completely remodeled, adding an acre of new hybrid Bermuda sod. Over the past months we have been over-seeding all the tees and are still completing all the green surro...unds. We installed over 70 yards of new shredded cedar bark to all of our landscape beds to give them a new look. We have been raising irrigation heads and installing new sprinklers heads in the problem areas on the fairways. We are currently in the process of adding new white sand to all the green-side bunkers for a bright new look. The comments on green shave been fast and beautiful. At long last we will have a beautiful new fleet of RXV Elite lithium ion powered carts, from EZ-GO! This Friday we should receive the first 40 carts of our new fleet, with the rest arriving the following Tuesday. Thank you all so much for your patience and understanding over the last few months while our carts limped through a busy golf season. We know these new carts will provide you with years and years of reliable service here at Turkey Creek! We are looking forward to a wonderful winter of golf with you. The new carts will have a beige body color, but otherwise will be just like the one in the photo. Cheers everyone!

Ok, the new driving range @ Turkey Creek is finally ready! Starting tomorrow you are welcome to come out and hit balls and check out the beautiful turf we have been grooming and preparing for the past three weeks! Chris Wilson and I have prepared a new system for rotation and control of hitting areas. Enjoy the new range tee!

I want to thank Greg Dunn and the crew from West Coast Turf for the incredible installation of sod they completed last week on our newly remodeled driving range tee! They sodded 43,200 Sqft of sod; that's 108 of those giant rolls! The new tee looks awesome and is growing in well, we will be mowing for the first time on July 8th and we are hoping to open in a couple weeks!

Wow! What an awesome week of work in re-shaping and renovating the driving range tee at Turkey Creek! I wanted to give a shout out to all the people that helped in creating the two incredible tees. We took the top two tee decks and created one very large tee deck and increased the size of teeing area. I want to thank Bob Lepeec from Central Valley Engineering for all the equipment and awesome crew! I personally want to thank Ram Sena from Catta Vedera CC; he was such a big help in directing and laying out the whole project! This next week the crews will finish all the leveling of irrigation heads and final grade. Everything will be ready for new hybrid Bermuda sod, which is scheduled for to be installed on July 1st! I can't wait to see them lay out the high quality turf, we are going to have such an incredible, large, teeing surface!

Excuse our mess while we remodel the driving range! On Monday, we began the process of a complete driving range re-build. Look forward to a perfectly flat, large and pristine new driving range. It will be nearly double the size of before, making it the perfect choice for some socially distanced practice sessions. The Range will be open on brand new mats by next week, and we should be back on beautiful Bermuda grass as early as Mid to late July. Get excited to practice and play Turkey Creek Golf Club this summer!!

We are now open for golf, after being closed for almost 4 weeks. During that time, we aerated the greens and re-seeded them. The greens have healed up and are rolling very well. We have been grooming the tees, fairways, and roughs. Come out and play! We have limited tee times from 8:00 - 12:00, so we can manage the social distancing Mike Kaveney, Superintendent
