This year, on May 15, 2021, we observe Peace Officers Memorial Day and honor the local, State, and Federal law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty while protecting others with courage and dedication. These observances also remind us of the ongoing need to be vigilant against all forms of crime, especially to acts of violence and terrorism. On Peace Officers Memorial Day, the Tuolumne County Probation Department honors the fallen peace officers ...and pay tribute to their bravery and service. This year, the Department would like to specifically extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Deputy Probation Officer II, Julio Lopez Beltran of Riverside County Probation Department who died from complications as the result of contracting COVID-19 in the line of duty. Officer Beltran served with the Riverside Probation Department for seven years and was assigned to the Central Services Division. See more

Tuolumne County Probation Department works collaboratively with the county’s Behavioral Health Department to meet the needs of adults supervised on probation who may otherwise fall through cracks in the system. Sheila Redoutey, a Behavioral Health Clinician embedded in the Probation Department, provides much needed mental health services onsite to formally supervised adults. Sheila works closely with Betsey Coe, Behavioral Health Worker, to assess and identify needs such as... lack of stable housing and transportation, clothing, food, as well as substance abuse treatment needs, and medical/mental health challenges. Linkage between the two agencies has promoted successful outcomes for this unique population with a collective focus on recovery-oriented service management and provision. Sheila and Betsey are dedicated and tireless in their efforts to provide clients with the resources and skills they need to become self-sufficient with the ultimate goal of reduced recidivism and safer communities. Regarding the clients she serves, Sheila states, Engagement is key; Being open and really listening to a client’s needs with no judgement. Betsey’s philosophy is Meet them where they’re at. Then help them move forward. Thank you, Sheila and Betsey, for the work you do with us in helping to build a stronger, healthier community! See more
