Among the new laws set to go into effect Jan. 1 is a bill (AB 1525) that removes state penalties and offers privacy protections for financial institutions that do business with the cannabis industry. Newsom also signed a bill (SB 67) aimed at preventing businesses from misrepresenting a product’s origin, establishing an appellations program similar to those used in the wine industry. https://buff.ly/2SHeEOF
Cannabis growers in California, Oregon and Washington state are contemplating two choices in the face of wildfires that have burned more than 5 million acres: - Harvesting underdeveloped plants with lower yields in early October. - Trying to regain those lost days by harvesting later in the month, risking freezing temperatures or early snow.... All of this further underscores the threat that climate change poses to cannabis and, more broadly, agriculture.
Climate change and natural disasters across the country are forcing cultivators to rethink their approach. Everything from location to cultivar - to adapt to changing conditions. Check out this piece by MJBIZ Online https://buff.ly/36qzp9n
