Welcome to Day Twelve of Joy Makers: A Celebration of the Volunteers Who Make It All Possible. Meet Scott Montgomery, our Volunteer Board Chair. Scott serves as the Board Chair of the Roundhouse. This year, Scott was instrumental as we navigated COVID; he helped us financially adjust our operating models to get through the lean times and to establish safety protocols and policies for the Roundhouse to reopen in June. He is fair, pragmatic, and level-headed, and we can alway...s look to him as a reliable moral compass when making hard decisions. Favorite Roundhouse Shop: Really? What’s your favorite child? All of them. What I Make: Mine tend toward the pragmatic (the engineer in me) - signs, electrical/wood repair, projects for KidZone. Why I Volunteer: Making is a family tradition, but the Roundhouse is my place for inspiration and invigoration. It’s one thing to have the tools, but there’s nothing like the collaboration and enthusiasm and sharing that you get at the Roundhouse. Scott, Board leadership is a large job. It takes generous and committed community members like yourself to help keep our local community organizations focused, mission-driven, sustainable, and value-aligned. Thank you for helping sail our ship through the stormy weather of the global pandemic and for always doing it with positivity and perspective. The Roundhouse and our community are stronger because of your service. *********************************** And that's a wrap! Thank you to everyone who joined us on our Joymaker Journey to celebrate some of the amazing humans who make our community more creative, vibrant, and kind. Happy Holidays! #sharewhatyoulove #tahoekindness #givebacktahoe #makerlove @ttcfgives www.givebacktahoe.org/organization/truckee-roundhouse

Welcome to Day Eleven of Joy Makers: A Celebration of the Volunteers Who Make It All Possible. Meet Kristen Anderson, one of our Front Desk Volunteers. Kristen is our resident Craftivist, often using her making projects to spread a positive message for social change. This year she created some amazing buttons to honor the passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg as well as some cool VOTE earrings to encourage folks to use their voice during the election. Kristen and her twin ...sons are also the masterminds behind our First Tuesdays for Planet Earth series: free classes to encourage making projects that eliminate our dependency on single-use plastics. Favorite Roundhouse Shop: Usually wood shop but I’ll pop into textiles when I’m feeling sassy. What I Make: I have made cutting boards on the scroll saw, earrings on the laser, my house numbers in ceramics... and I lead the First Tuesdays for Planet Earth class where we make snack bags, utensil holders, produce bags, and more (for free!) Why I Volunteer: I love volunteering because I get to meet so many different types of people outside of my own circle during my shift at the front desk. I like to say that it’s where Soc’s and Greasers can all hang out! I have made so many great friends while simply making including an attorney, an ER doc, a PE teacher, chefs, and firefighters. The best part is the community within the Roundhouse. There is always someone to answer how-to questions about anything, and sometimes I am the expert! You won't find Kristen tooting her own horn, so we will! She is an incredible artist, volunteer, and supporter of the creative arts in our area. Kristen, thank you for all you do to support the Roundhouse and for sharing your passion with our community to make Truckee Tahoe a better place. #sharewhatyoulove #tahoekindness #givebacktahoe #makerlove @ttcfgives www.givebacktahoe.org/organization/truckee-roundhouse

Welcome to Day Ten of Joy Makers: A Celebration of the Volunteers Who Make It All Possible. Meet Brandy Ivener, our newest Volunteer Board Member. Brandy brings a deep background in finance and accounting, nonprofit management, and volunteer service to the Roundhouse. She is genuine, enthusiastic, and creative; we are so excited to have her skill set and leadership on the Roundhouse Board. If you see her at the Roundhouse or about town, please introduce yourself and welcome... her to our community! Favorite Roundhouse Shop: Still exploring as I'm new to the Roundhouse What I Make: Projects with reclaimed materials, knitted scarfs and hats, and baked goods... I really love to cook. Why I Volunteer: Having the ability to be a new board member at a place that fosters creative growth for all ages and skills is really meaningful to me especially being new to the Truckee and North Tahoe communities. I discovered the amazing Roundhouse a bit before we started sheltering in place... I love being a part of creativity, inspiration, and community because I thrive from that energy. The Truckee Roundhouse provides all that and more. I really look forward to growing my skills, meeting new inventive people, and becoming more interwoven into this gorgeous place I now call home. Brandy, thank you for stepping up in the middle of a pandemic to share your time and passion with our community and to make Truckee Tahoe a better place. We are thrilled to have you on the team. #sharewhatyoulove #tahoekindness #givebacktahoe #makerlove @ttcfgives www.givebacktahoe.org/organization/truckee-roundhouse

Welcome to Day Nine of Joy Makers: A Celebration of the Volunteers Who Make It All Possible. Meet Cat Dunleavy, one of our Front Desk Volunteers. Cat is another one of our multi-talented makers. You may find her learning new embroidery techniques in our Textiles Shop, creating laser inlays for ukuleles in the Wood Shop, or building a large scale art piece for Burning Man in our Ceramics Shop. She always goes the extra mile to help a member or give a tour, and most recently,... she has lent her creative vision to help design two of our soon-to-be-released Make-at-Home Kits. Favorite Roundhouse Shop: Textiles! What I Make: All kinds of things! I love finding fun fabrics in the textiles shop and making something useful out of it. Lately, I've been mending and altering a lot of my clothes, reupholstering couch cushions, and creating Maker Kits for the Roundhouse. I've also built part of a large Burning Man art installation at the Roundhouse, and I use the laser machine to create custom inlays for ukuleles. Why I Volunteer: I volunteer because this space is amazing!! I love that we have access to so many tools, space to create in, people to connect with, and classes to learn new skills. Creating is a big part of my life and the Truckee Roundhouse has helped me grow as a maker and designer. I'm so grateful for this space and this community. Cat, thank you for all you do! By sharing your talent, generosity, and kindness, you make the Roundhouse and the Tahoe Truckee region a more creative, vibrant, and amazing place. #sharewhatyoulove #tahoekindness #givebacktahoe #makerlove @ttcfgives www.givebacktahoe.org/organization/truckee-roundhouse

Welcome to Day Eight of Joy Makers: A Celebration of the Volunteers Who Make It All Possible. Meet Alison Levin, our Vounteer Coordinator and Maker Show Leadership Team Member. Alison volunteers her amazing organizational and graphic design skills to guarantee the Roundhouse runs not only runs smoothly, but also in a fun and visually pleasing way. She helps us by coordinating and managing our weekly volunteer schedule as well as pitching in on creative projects like designi...ng our new sticker sheet which debuts in our Make-at-Home Kits. She is an incredibly valued member of our Maker Show Leadership committee where she manages the marketing, signage, and volunteers of the event (in addition to much, much, more!). At the space, you can often find her translating inspiring quotes into wall art in the wood or metal shop. Favorite Roundhouse Shop: I spend most of my time in the wood shop, but love when projects bring me into the other spaces! What I Make: I make nature-inspired things - a medley of hand-lettered signs, laser cut goodies, and wood crafts (and usually a mashup of all three!) Why I Volunteer: I love volunteering at the Roundhouse because it's a creative hub for our community, and I leave empowered and inspired after each visit. I love learning from other makers, collaborating on projects, and watching ideas turn into things. When so much of my workday is spent on a computer, I love being able to disconnect from technology, use my hands and my imagination, and reconnect with the joy of making. For all the lovely things it has gifted to me, contributing to the makerspace as a volunteer is the least I can give in return. Alison, thank you for sharing your time, creative energy, and passion with our creative community. By sharing your skills and your art, you make our world better, brighter, and more fun! #sharewhatyoulove #tahoekindness #givebacktahoe #makerlove @ttcfgives @tahoeburltheory www.givebacktahoe.org/organization/truckee-roundhouse

A big thank you to everyone for bringing the LOVE this Give Back Tahoe season. The Roundhouse would not have been able to keep its doors open this year without your support. Thank you all for giving a little extra to make sure we are around for 2021. #tahoekindness #makerlove #makenotbreak #gratefulmakers
