The Trinity River Area CHP, in a combined effort with the CHP - Red Bluff office and office of social services adopted" a family this Christmas to help spread a little cheer during what has been a trying year. We were provided the names, address, and Christmas wishes of a wonderful and deserving family. The children, from Trinity County, are currently living with Grandpa in Tehama County. Grandpa is working hard to help raise his three grandchildren, and it shows. All thre...e were extremely polite, kind, and sincere. The kids were each presented with a gift from the top of their wish list. They also took turns sitting in our patrol vehicles, activating the lights, siren and other fun features. All three asked some excellent and inciteful questions! It was an emotional and rewarding experience for officers from both Areas. Thank you, Trinity County Child Welfare Services, for giving us the opportunity to make Christmas a little special this year. Merry Christmas and stay safe! -Trinity River Area CHP and Red Bluff CHP. Oh my.... Trinity county. You people really stepped up and have shown what a true giving spirit lives in this community. You filled a patrol car, a search and rescue truck, and part of an animal rescue van. Together you have helped to make a very merry Christmas for some of our local children. All these toys AND over $2000 in money and gift card donations that will be used to purchase gifts for older teens. Thank you!

The California Highway Patrol is dedicated to supplying the highest level of Safety, Service, and Security to all who live, work, and travel in this great state.... With this focus, the CHP is partnering with local, state, and public health agencies to help slow the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). The CHP plays a supportive role on the statewide task force, serving as a resource for state regulatory agencies that are focusing on businesses and workplaces not complying with the state’s safety guidelines. The best way people can protect themselves and others from COVID-19 is by wearing a face covering and practicing physical distancing when in public. The goal is to educate people about how to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and encourage them to self-regulate their behavior and adhere to the California Department of Public Health guidance. I would like to take a moment to clear up a rumor that the CHP is making enforcement stops asking people why they are on the road and then issuing citations if they didn’t feel the reason was valid. THIS IS NOT TRUE. The Governor has not asked law enforcement to enforce the statewide stay at home order. In an effort to preserve public health and safety of all Californians, the hope is that people will self-regulate their behavior and home isolate, protect themselves, and go ...about only the essential activities using social distancing. We will continue to assist our allied agency partners as needed, but the mission of the CHP remains unchanged. We will continue to patrol the highways, respond to all traffic collisions, provide services to motorists, and take appropriate enforcement action when a violation is observed. As always, motorists should obey traffic laws and not drive distracted or under the influence of alcohol or drugs. True, some portions of our operations have been somewhat challenging amid the added responsibilities associated with the COVID-19 health emergency, but The CHP will continue to provide the highest level of Safety, Service, and Security to the public. If you have any questions, please give us a call (530) 623-3832. Thank you, Officer Tom Frank Trinity River Area CHP

During these trying times, our commitment to California, its residents, and those traveling through, is unwavering. To ensure the safety of all Californians we ...are constantly consulting with health professionals and government officials to prepare for the unexpected. We will always be there to answer the call. 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. While some non-mission critical functions of our offices will be suspended or postponed until further notice, we are open and ready to assist you in any way we can. We will continue to enforce the laws of the state of California, assist the public, and provide the same level of Safety, Service, and Security, the public has grown to expect from us over the last 91 years. Sincerely, Your California Highway Patrol
