Troxell's Big Red Orchard will not be at the Saturday Redding Farmer's Market. Jerry is feeling under the weather. You can still get apples, jams & jellies, dried apples, and cider at the Orchard in Montgomery Creek. Hours are 8am to 5pm, Saturday and Sunday and the same hours weekdays by appointment only.

My friend served this for lunch yesterday so I can vouch for its deliciousness. We can use our home-canned winter squash and our unsweetened applesauce. If the ...applesauce is minimally sweetened leave out the apple juice and replace it with more chicken broth https://www.google.com//02/curried-butternut-squash-s/amp/ See more

Wow. That was some weather we had in Redding yesterday. Sorry if we missing you at the Redding Farmers Market yesterday but it just wasn't possible for the Market to say open with all that wind and rain (some 3 inches in total). Order cider and apples for next week's Market, the last of the 2019 season.

Food Safety During Power Outages Get Ready: Perishable Food and Power Outages With the possibility of extended power outages in multiple locations in California..., there are several options for keeping refrigerated and frozen food safe if you don’t have a generator. Prep now to buy dry ice or ice blocks for your refrigerator; food will only stay cold for 4-6 hours once the power goes out. A full freezer will stay frozen about 2 days, as long as you keep it closed. Click here for suggestions from the USDA about preparing perishable food before the power goes out, during the power outage and when the power comes back on. You still have time to freeze some of your perishables, to crank down the temperature, and to fill your fridge and freezer with frozen water bottles.
