With the camping reservation cancelled by state parks :( We still decided to go hike around the island. Most of the kids had members of their families join us for the trip as well!! It was a beautiful day in the 70s and very fun trip with all the families there.

So sad today upon hearing about the passing of one of mine and 558s great friends John Valle. John gave so much of himself to everyone. I first met John when he was asst scoutmaster to the troop when my oldest son joined. Apparently he had a son who made Eagle a few yrs prior but he stuck around to help out. I thought to myself, what type of guy does that??!! Over the years John stepped back on day to day stuff, but still kept track of each boy's advancement as our advancement chair. I would always look forward to our talks and especially loved the one time each year for summer camp John would use his truck to haul in gear to summer camp. I learned so much about scouting and life in general from John.
