Well did you know public speaking is the 13th most common phobia? Glossophobia: The fear of public speaking. Well we are here to help and to actually make this fun so let's get started! 1. There are NO bad speeches. Nobody cares if you stumble on your words or begin crying. Everybody present ...supports you. I have deejayed hundreds of weddings and have never seen a bad speech. #2. Use the Role Model method. As soon as you are about to speak pick out someone in the room that looks up to you. Look directly at them and speak to only them. Imagine just the two of you in the room. Who thinks you are their hero and you can defeat Superman? Your kid, a younger sibling? Nothing can stop you. YOU GOT THIS! 3. BREATH. When the mic gets handed to you take a second to look down, breathe, embrace the moment and rock that speech! 3. Write your speech down on a piece of paper and not on your phone. Your phone will cause the microphone to emit weird noises and reverb if it is too close. You do not have to write down your whole speech, just write down key speaking points in case you get nervous and forget what to say. 5. HAVE FUN! Dance Floor Tips #1: Guests will be where the bride/groom or the person of honor is located. If you want a packed dance floor where your guests are talking over and over about how their feet hurt and they're gonna be sore tomorrow, then you need to be in the middle of the dance floor with them! #2: Select music that not only you love but you know your guests will love as well. Throw in a few songs that have special meaning to the family or certain party animal family member...s. #3: Your DJ needs to be near the dance floor. He can't be located in a corner because then there becomes a disconnect between him and the crowd. We are pros and read dance floors (peoples facial reactions). We can't see that from across the room. #4: If you have older guests please do not sit them near where the speakers will be located.
