Arthur and Melissa joined me today to explore just a bit of the beautiful La Jolla Ecological Preserve. We originally intended to dive the Cove, but waves were building and visibility looked questionable so we elected to push back in deeper along the eastern shore.. Good choice - the canyon was nice, a bit cold down below 30' - but certainly manageable in a 7mm suit. We were treated to a decent sized Bat Ray feeding on something just near Vallecitos Point. The rock structures off the Marine Room were also filled with fish - several white seabass were spotted as were a pair of mating sheep crab. Thank you Arthur and Melissa for sharing your morning with me.

While a few have been documented traveling hundreds of miles, most leopard sharks are homebodies that remain in the same area for much of their lives. Leopard sharks are most common in shallow water. They prefer muddy bay habitats, especially here in California! Named for the ridges behind their eyes, horn sharks are also best known for their beautiful spiral-shaped egg cases, which females wedge between rocks in the springtime. Horn sharks are slow swimmers and have been known to crawl along the bottom using their fins! There are many amazing underwater sea creatures to see at la Jolla Cove; however, sea animals aren’t all there is to see at La Jolla Cove. There are a lot of beautiful terrestrial animals to observe as well! One of them would be California Brown Pelicans. The Strawberry Anemone, or Club Tipped Anemone, is an amazing variation to the Corallimorphidae family. Reviewed by 606dennisy Oct 24, 2020 Scuba diver certification I actually looked around at 3-4 different dive cert program to include Trident divers. Most of the shops were either trying to sell me gear when I knew nothing about diving or not very customer service oriented. I called Trident Divers and Joel got back to me within 15min to set up a call for later. I randomly ran into him at La Jolla Cove as he was heading out on a dive. He took time to answer a few questions I ha...d even though he was busy and that was what sold me on this company. I ended up signing up for private lessons with Joel and the experience was far beyond what I expected to receive. From day one I could tell Joel’s main priority was to train safe and competent divers. NAUI has some pretty high standards for dive training but Joel took our training a few steps above and beyond. Everything was in-line with NAUI standards with a little extra to help you stand out as a top notch diver. The training, teaching style, taking trips to local dive shops, even giving me useful pointers as a novice swimmer helped me leave this course excited and confident about my new ventures in diving. Joel will definitely push you to push yourself. You will definitely work hard for the certification but from the beginning I felt like the course was set up for my success. They do other dive courses and tours I look forward to booking in the future. Probably the program best in San Diego and worth the investment in yourself. Response from Joel T, Owner at Trident Divers Response Published Oct 24, 2020 Thank you Dennis for your review, and for placing your trust in Trident Divers. I look forward to hearing about your dives, about the discoveries you make on your trips, and watching your growth as a diver. The course you enrolled in is no easy task - it required commitment, dedication, flexibility and a willingness to extend yourself past your comfort zone. Throughout each phase of training you were on time, prepared for what would be asked of you, and reflected the seriousness of your undertaking in the efforts you put forward. You have cause to find pride in what you accomplished...I ask more of my students than the standards require - as you now know. I was impressed by your outward calmness especially under the stresses you were asked to endure...and have every confidence you will demonstrate sound decision making as a scuba diver. Thank you again for providing Trident Divers the opportunity to lay the foundation of your scuba training...and thank you for your service to our country, Semper Fi
