Walk as Christ's Brother (Psalms 21:7) For the king trusts in the LORD, and through the steadfast love of the Most High he shall not be moved. (Hebrews 2:11-13) For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source. That is why he is not ashamed to call them brothers, saying, "I will tell of your name to my brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise." And again, "I will put my trust in him." And again, "Behold, I and the children God ...has given me." David trusted in God and it was through God that he found his strength, success, and victory. David was a type of Christ and thus in many ways foreshadowed the coming of Messiah. His consistent and unwavering trust in God, regardless of his circumstances, points us toward the faith and trust Jesus had in His Father. David trusted in God and God told him well in advance that he was to be king, protected him in various forms of grave danger, made him a mighty warrior, and set him on the throne of Israel as a great king. Jesus trusted in His Father and He raised Him from the dead. The source of all of David's strength and glory, and the source of your very salvation, which is the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, is the steadfast love of God the Father. There is no other source that is able to provide safety, security, contentment, joy, and salvation. Walk today as a member of the brethren, not only with one another but with Christ Himself. In your successes and your failures (which is your sanctification), Jesus is not ashamed to call you brother. Through His atonement, He has made you one with Him as He is one with the Father. Questions For Discussion If you do not trust in God, in whom do you trust? Why is there no source other than God for safety, security, contentment, joy, and salvation? Why is Jesus not ashamed to call you brother even in your failures?

Display God's Glory (Psalms 21:3-6) For you meet him with rich blessings; you set a crown of fine gold upon his head. He asked life of you; you gave it to him, length of days forever and ever. His glory is great through your salvation; splendor and majesty you bestow on him. For you make him most blessed forever; you make him glad with the joy of your presence. (John 17:22-23) The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I i...n them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. David was a strong, physically attractive man. He had a sharp mind and was well spoken; he was loved by all of Israel. David was a great and glorious king. He recognized, and communicated to all of Israel, that all of who he was and what he had was from God; that his only glory was the glory he received from God. David was a type of Christ. Jesus was not loved by all of Israel, in fact most despised Him. He was certainly not wealthy; He did not live in a palace, eat the best of food, or wear the finest clothes. Jesus, however, was an even greater and more glorious king than David. He too recognized that His glory was the glory He received from the Father. God shared and expressed His glory through King David, through His Son Jesus Christ, and now through us His Church. He refers to us as the jewels of His crown (Zechariah 9:16). He displays His glory through you by giving you a life direction and providing power through His Holy Spirit within you to accomplish all to which He has called you. Keep in mind throughout your day today that everything in your life that is great and glorious has been given to you by God for His glory. This is a sobering thought that if held to, will continually guard you from the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the boastful pride of life. Questions For Discussion What do crown jewels represent? How does God display His glory through His Church? From what does remembering that you display God's glory guard you?

Praise God Your Account is Paid (Psalms 10:13-15) Why does the wicked renounce God and say in his heart, "You will not call to account"? But you do see, for you note mischief and vexation, that you may take it into your hands; to you the helpless commits himself; you have been the helper of the fatherless. Break the arm of the wicked and evildoer; call his wickedness to account till you find none. (John 19:28-30) After this, Jesus, knowing that all was now finished, said (to... fulfill the Scripture), "I thirst." A jar full of sour wine stood there, so they put a sponge full of the sour wine on a hyssop branch and held it to his mouth. When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, "It is finished," and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. The moment before Jesus died, He cried out a single Greek word that we translate to, "it is finished". The Greek word is Tetelestai; an accounting term that means an account is paid in full. This single Greek word spoken by the Lord Jesus Christ indicated that everything He had come to do had been accomplished; that the sins of every single one of His people had been paid for. The full and complete wrath of God's perfect and just judgment against an unholy people had been satisfied. Jesus had done everything necessary to bare the burden of the sins of God's people and had paid the price in full! Today's Psalm states that the wicked in heart do not really believe that God will ultimately call into account every sin ever committed. This is a foolish disbelief that leads sinners deeper into their sinfulness. Unfortunately, believers often times lose sight of this fact also. Losing sight of this does not in any way endanger the salvation of a true believer, but it does perpetuate a lack of daily remembrance, acknowledgement, and thanksgiving for what Jesus accomplished in His life and on the cross. Don't lose sight of the incredible price that Jesus paid for your sinfulness. Don't allow pride, arrogance, and selfishness, instead of the blood Jesus poured out on your behalf, to guide your steps. Remember today, the debt that you were in, your inability to ever pay it in full, and that one Greek word uttered by your Lord the moment He breathed His last. Tetelestai; paid in full! Questions For Discussion Why is it important to remember the debt that you could never pay in full? What happens when you lose sight of the fact that God will call into account every sin ever committed? What does remembering Tetelestai everyday help you to do?

In this final message of a three-part series, Pastor David Spaggiari draws from scripture the purpose and the mission of the Church. He outlines the fulfillment of the Church's mission, which is the proclamation of the gospel, in six key points every gospel message should include. The emphasis of this message is on the sovereignty of God in proclaiming the gospel.
