HERE IS THE HUMOR SIDE OF A SERIOUS MATTER: The daughter of an elderly woman used to take her mom to Bloomingdales as their routine outings. One day when she took her mom to make the will and her final requests. Her mom told the will preparer that she had two final requests. First, she wanted to be cremated, and second, she wanted her ashes scattered over Bloomingdales. "Bloomingdales!" the will preparer exclaimed. "Why Bloomingdales?" "Then I'll be sure my daughters visit me twice a week."

On a serious matter, let’s talk about Advance directive. Advance directive is a very important document that every one of us should have because it lists your desire to live your life. It is matter of life and death. Unfortunately, only a few got it done and only after some traumatic event happened and wakes us up. Also, young people don’t normally talk about their dying days anyway. Here, I would say that most of the Facebook audiences are young. For that matter, this ...is for your parents. Ask them, do they have one? Or do they know about this document? It is written documents designed to allow competent patients the opportunity to guide future health care decisions in the event that they are unable to participate directly in medical decision making. Posting this is not my intension to teach or have you follow me, but just a friendly reminder because when any prospective family brought their parents to live in my facility, I will ask for this document. Without it, I can’t admit your parents. Advance directives fall into two broad categories: instructive and proxy. Instructive directives allow for preferences regarding the provision of particular therapies or classes of therapies. Living wills are the most common examples of instructive directives, but other types of instructive directives, such as no transfusion and no CPR directives are also employed. The proxy directive, generally a Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care (DPAHC), allows for the designation of a surrogate medical decision maker of the patient's choosing. This surrogate decision maker makes medical care decisions for the patient in the event she is incapacitated. For residential care home like us, this surrogate decision maker is also the responsible person who has the power to manage any financial budget and who would pay the facility for their parents’ living cost. Please I encourage you to learn more on your own. See more
