Hello Everyone- My Name is Sean Carlson and I will be the new Head Varsity Wrestling Coach at Matilda Torres High School. I figure it would be good if you new some background information about me. I wrestled for Hoover High School in Fresno, California. In high school I was a 3-time League Champ, a Valley (also known as Masters) Champion, and a 2-time state qualifier. I went to Fresno State University where I wrestled and got my B.S. degree and my teaching credential. I wres...tled for Fresno State for three years until they cut the program. During my college career I also helped coached for Hoover High School and Ahwahnee Middle school. After college, I coached as an assistant coach for 2 years at the Clovis youth wrestling program, Clark Intermediate and Clovis High School. I was fortunate enough to help Clovis win a Division, Masters, and State Title in 2011. I then left Clovis to get my first PE teaching job at Martin Luther King Middle School in Madera. In Madera, I coached football for 7th grade, coached wrestling at MLK, coached the stallion youth wrestling program, and coached wrestling at Madera South High school. I coached and taught in Madera for 5 year. Then I went to Kerman High School for my first opportunity to become a Head Varsity Wrestling Coach at the High School level and to also teach out there. I coached and taught in Kerman for 4 years and many good things happened while I was there. In Kerman I started the first girls wrestling program and had our first female wrestling coach in Kerman, started a elementary wrestling tournament for the district, started the youth freestyle and greco-roman wrestling program, won league championships as a team for my first year as a Head Coach, and out of the fours years there I had four wrestlers that qualified to state. Now, I am excited to comeback to Madera at the new high school where I plan to build the wrestling community to a new exciting level of competition. See more
