Cannabis plants should be designated as chemovars rather than as strains. Strain is an outdated term no longer used by botanists, although microbiologists still use it to describe certain kinds of bacteria and viruses. Also, drop the sativa/indica nomenclature and insist on accurate biochemical testing of cannabinoid and terpene profiles be available for cannabis in both medical and recreational markets. Scientific accuracy in the public health demand no less than this. Mo...re recently, research seems to point to terpenoid content as the most convincing distinguishing chemotaxonomic markers between putative sativa and indica species (Elzinga et al., 2015). Governor Newsom signed SB-67 the Cannabis appellations bill!! SB 67 establishes a process by which licensed cultivators may establish appellations of origin for cannabis produced in certain geographical areas of California, instead of by county. It prohibits the name of a California county, including any similar name that is likely to mislead consumers as to the kind of cannabis contained in the product, from being used, as specified, unless 100% of the cannabis contained in ...the product was produced in that county. It establish a process by which licensed cultivators may establish appellations of origin for cannabis produced in certain geographical areas of California, instead of by county. Using geographic branding, just like wine. Now, the burgeoning multibillion-dollar industry will be able to stamp its products with geographic identifiers, just like France’s famed burgundies and Alexander Valley’s cabernet sauvignon. Just harvested the last of my blueberry muffin. Never grown outdoor cannabis before. While not the most beautiful flowers, I think I could have cured in better conditions. The scent and taste are most amazing. Making butter out of the trim right now. Going to do some baking. Experiences like this should be more accessible to consumers. Along with education. Did you know you are allowed to grow six plants? Small home grows should be encouraged.... I'm interested in demystifying the experience. Providing lessons and tastings. Focusing on effects as well as taste. Either consuming within 24 hours of curing process being finalized. Immediately after curing is done, ground and consume as close to cure date you've picked. Many of the compounds and oils leave or transform as cannabis ages. Or curing longer like cheese or wine for a whole different experience. The more closer to harvest and curing the more potent, powerful and alive it is. Taking cannabis to a whole other level. I recognize cannabis as a sacred, transformative experience and show reverence for it. The people in my life are here for a reason. There is something divine about us all being together at this time. If you're following me I just want to say thank you! Such crazy times we are living in. I truly, deeply care about the collective well being. My deepest desire/intention is to take the knowledge and experience I've acquired in the 20 years working with cannabis and in patient advocacy and community organizing, and continue raising awareness around the true potential of cannabis, and teaching others all about it's benefits.
