Yolo Bus Rolls On Yesterday, I spent time at the Yolo County Transportation District headquarters (aka Yolo Bus). I am pleased to report that it is an efficiently run, forward looking, innovative operation. Much credit goes to founding director Terry Bassett who recently retired. But, it takes a team now headed by acting director Jose Perez to operate a fleet of 70 buses, most all either nonpolluting CNG or electric. Technology is being applied to all aspects of the ope...ration. Your safety is enhanced by the fact that livecams are at work on every bus along with GPS positioning which is constantly monitored at the Woodland offices. Rigorous maintenance is performed on all buses in the fleet at a state of the art facility. Yolo Bus has suffered a severe drop in ridership since the beginning of the pandemic, but we all hope as we are once again free to go about our business, that folks will return to this safe, inexpensive, reliable and nonpolluting form of transportation.
