Did you know that in 1882 a famous well was dug up in Carlsbad? It was so famous that people came from all over the world to enjoy the alkaline mineral water for drinking, bathing, and healing. The mineral was discovered in 1882 by Capt. John Frazier when he drilled a well for his farm near the beach.... The alkaline mineral watercured a stomach ailment he had suffered for years, similar to the water from the spa town of Karlsbad in the Czech Republic. You can still see the site where John Frazier dug up that well in front of Alt Karlsbad also known as the Carlsbad Mineral Water Spa.
