Torrance Memorial created The Reason Is You award for employees and doctors providing extraordinary service. The Pediatrics Department was recognized for going above and beyond during COVID-19 and providing support to the Labor & Delivery team. Excitement is ringing through our halls as we begin distributing the COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine to our frontline staff. The Gingerbread House Decorating Contest invites individuals and families to make a $100 donation to the Lundquist Lurie Cardiovascular Institute. Participants will receive a gingerbread house kit from our longtime supporter and partner Torrance Bakery! Kit includes: pre-fabricated gingerbread house, white royal icing and candies. Entries will be submitted online and judged on overall appearance, originality, creativity, construction and architecture. Our expert panel of judges include our sponsors Ben Archer, Lynn Kim and Joe Spierer along with Kirk Rossberg owner of Torrance Bakery. We want to send a big congratulations to Dr. Richard Brucker, our September Physician Reason is You winner! Dr. Brucker is a pediatrician with Torrance Memorial... Physician Network and he was nominated for going above and beyond the call of duty for his young patients. After receiving a 4-day-old's routine lab results, he saw that this patient needed to be admitted, but unable to contact the family due to a nationwide cellular outage, Dr. Brucker drove to the patient's house to make sure the patient was admitted immediately. The mother was so grateful that this essential stranger went to the extremes to make sure her new baby would be OK. Thank you, Dr. Brucker, for representing the values of our Torrance Memorial family and for being such an outstanding physician. See more
