Wow, when they say all your idols are dead My favorite show of all time is the Mary Tyler Moore show. I absolutely loved everything about Mary: her amazing style, the way she loved her friends, the way her whole life didn't hinge on finding a boyfriend, her successful career, the way she was a boss everyone liked, the way she smiled &, oh boy, the way she laughed...in my early 20's, I left college for a couple years and moved to St.Paul, I lived blocks away from the house... they used in the opening credits. I lived a Mary sort of life. I have channeled her throughout my life whenever I face a challenge. The theme song from her show has been running through my mind since I have heard of her death...and, while I don't remember everything, this oddly falls on the same day last year when my mom was put into the hospital and my dear friend and Roomate moved out last year...and all those frozen moments of fear feel so tangible again for a moment...The real Mary was as flawed as anyone...she was a longtime alcoholic, her son committed suicide, she struggled much in life, as we all do. However, today as sad as I am about this I think it is meaningful in that those changes last year had to happen, much as the idols admired all my life would one day die, so I night one day become my own idol...
