Replacing a heater core on a VW has to be one of the most time consuming and frustrating repairs.... Just finished this one up on a 1997 Jetta TDI for a friend.

I got this engine finally fired up today, proving that my crazy idea for fuel injection on a single port engine does work!

3" narrowed beam finished up and installed in the '65 bus! We put new dimples in the leaf packs to hold the trailing arms in place, cut down the extra length of the leaves sticking out, and then narrowed a set of tie rods to match (Two right side tie rods, becuase the left one isn't normally adjustable on a bus!) I'll be working on getting the brakes/spindles back on this week, along with reconnecting everything else up front (including steering box) and then I'll get back to finishing up the rear suspension and brakes.

Mountain VW rescue part 2: 1966 VW Bus: SO-42 Westfalia camper sitting in Boulder Creek, CA for 30 years! 4 out of 4 wheels were locked up... We pulled off all the drums and took out the brake shoes and hauled it off to Gilroy.

Today's Volkswagen adventure: we went up to into the Santa Cruz Mountains to Boulder Creek, CA to rescue a '62 ragtop baja bug that was parked since 1990!... We had to move a port-a-potty put of our way to get the trailer into the spot where the bug was hiding (apparently used by CHP while watching the road during the last fire, which burned the next house down the road to the ground)... Then we yanked the bug out of its resting spot only to discover that several wheels were locked up. We hammered off the brake drums and freed up the wheels so we could roll it up onto the trailer, and then hauled it back down the mountain to Gilroy!

Parts lot located in San Jose that need to be cleared out. Looking to sell the parts as a lot, or gauge interest in possibly having a yard sale on an upcoming Sunday.

2007cc engine partially disassembled to find the cause of catastrophic failure a few weeks ago with only a few thousand miles on it since installation last year... It looks like it floated the valves and the #2 piston and valves slammed into each other. I did not build this engine, but this is a perfect example of why dual valve springs are a good idea on a high performance engine, especially when it's put in a bus (much harder on an engine than a bug)

Latest project: complete door seal job! Prior to being repainted, this car had one piece windows (which requires cutting out the vent window channel). Another set of doors was sourced, so that the vent windows could be added back to the car, requiring complete replacement of all the door components.
