The human eye can see millions and millions and millions of colors. Some colors can be soothing while others are just irritating to your eyes and to your ambiance. If bright yellow bothers you, you are not alone. It is one of the most light-reflecting colors which results in stimulation of the eyes. #Tip: If you're decorating a baby's room and want to go with yellow on the walls, you might benefit from using a pale shade. Some say little ones cry more in bright yellow rooms!

When you @Google "Inventor of contact lenses", two people pop up Adolf Gaston Eugen Fick and Otto Wichterle. While Dr. Fick is often recognized for the discovery of contact lenses in the 1800s, they were made from glass and quite uncomfortable. Fast forward to 1958 when Otto, a chemist, developed the first soft lens and granted all the details to Bausch and Lomb in 1960. And the rest... is history. #InventorsDay https://bit.ly/2YxwR3W

On this day we remember and honor those who lost their lives-- the first responders and each individual who was affected by this tragic day, 19 years ago. Wondering what you can do to help? September 11th is also a National Day of Service. A day to volunteer in your local community in honor of those who endured the attack. Here are some ways to help: - Find a trustworthy non-profit to donate to - Give blood - Send a thank you to first responders - Simply take a moment of silence in remembrance. Have other ideas? Share them with us in the comments, we are here to listen.

It’s #NationalWomensEqualityDay. On this day in 1920, most women were granted the ability to exercise their voting rights freely. While we shine a light on this day, let’s also highlight a couple women who have made notable successions in the field of optometry: In 1911, well before voting rights were in place, Dr. D. Elva Cooper became the first women vice president of the AOA >> In 1920, within the same year of the 19th Amendment, Dr. Mae Booth-Jones became the first female president of an optometry school, The Washington School of Optometry.
