Dagoberto Pérez r.i.p. This week I lost a dear friend. A man I respect not only as a great horseman, but as a loyal friend, a family man ...a man of his word. I truly will miss our conversations, his words of advice and the good times we shared over 30+ years

Thursday Morning Update. Just checking in to let my family & friends know that we are still caring for & training horses this morning at Golden Gate Fields without interruption. I’m very grateful for us & our stable of horses that the test results were negative for Covid-19.... That being said, Im saddened to know of all my fellow trainers and their staffs that weren’t so fortunate and have been temporarily prevented from entering the barn area and caring for their stables. I hope things can return to normal soon. I would also like to say it makes me proud to hear & see fellow backstretch people step up and help others during this frustrating times.

So proud of this little racehorse ...he’s as game as they come. He weighed in about 200 lbs lighter than the second place finisher & had to carry 12 lbs more!! Kyle Frey thank you for the excellent mount! You said, I’m gonna bring home a winner for Mama!!! ...& you did!!

To the ARA's, PETA, and any supporter of the suspension of racing: To all of you who are taking joy in the fact that you were able to shut down Cal Expo, to al...l of you who are gloating about doing your part to "save" the race horse's - I have a few questions; Where will we be able to find you when it is time to find homes for the horses who are no longer able to race? Not because they are physically incapable, but because YOU "saved" them from it. Will you be opening your homes to these beautiful animals whose "suffering", you ended? Will you be providing them with the feed program they need to stay healthy? Will you be measuring out, and weighing grain rations in a manner that is unique to each individual horse you take in? I hope so - after all, YOU "saved" them. Will you be going out and finding the best hay possible for them? Will you make sure they have access to their forage 24/7 to keep them satisfied and ensure they don't start showing signs of ulcers from going without the ability to graze as they should? I hope so - after all, YOU "saved" them. Will you be able to get their dental work looked after? They need their teeth done on average, once per year. Will you be sure to have their vet on call, and be willing to spend, WHATEVER it takes to keep them healthy, sound, and comfortable, NO matter what the outcome is? I hope so - after all, YOU "saved" them. Will you be sure to keep their hooves looked after? Be careful you don't let them go far between trimmings, make sure and stock up on the specialty pads needed by the horses who don't have great hooves, the ones who have thin soles who are prone to bruising or abscesses. I hope you will make sure to find a farrier who can do a proper job - after all, YOU "saved" them. Will you make sure to be careful and cautious when turning them out in pairs and groups? Will you remember each of their special itchy spots, and be sure to give them loads of scratches? Will you remember each of their naughty tendencies and learn to work around those minor issues? Will you be sure to love them as much when they accidentally step on you, or when they nip you because you touched them somewhere they didn't like, as you do when they behave perfectly? I hope so - after all YOU "saved" them. Will you make the lifestyle changes necessary to look after them all? I hope so - after all, YOU "saved" them. Any ARA or PETA supporter is and always has been welcome to come see our animals and point out to me ANY of them who aren't healthy, happy, and loved. Because lets be real - now that you accomplished your goal of shutting the track down you will all be gone. None of you will come to ensure these horses all still get cared for - because you care about an agenda - NOT the animals. If you cared - you would do your research and if you did your research you would see that these horses get better treatment and care than most people do. #peta #animalrightsactivists #qksracing
