Thought provoking

Haha. Okaythis is a little late for costume pix but I got behind. Anyways, here they are. BUT! There’s hilarity as well, if you care to read. So based on the way the costumes evolved I thought Mal made his up from inside his mindhe didn’t say or I missed that it was supposed to be from Minecraft. Here’s how it went down... I had The Toddlets each give me 3 ideas and I got Nelson: Clown, Ironman, or Vampire or cat (he had gotten the cheap fake teeth in the countdown tree a...nd was thinking of a costume that would incorporate it) Michael: Monster, Superhero, or scarecrow So taking these ideas and pondering if I could tie them together somehow AND do it more on the cheap AND not have it be space taking costumes I decided... Nels: I was going to focus on Vampire and go for a Dracula Mal: I figured he could be Frankenstein’s monster This would get me a classic movies vibe going and maybe make Todd into Dr. Jykle/Hyde and I could be The Wicked Witch of the East. Then thing went a bit sideways for my plan and Nels evolved it into a Werecat (specifically he liked the Facebook messenger filter with the scary cat face) and Mal said he wanted his monster to be a Zombie Pigman (but in my head I heard it like ManBearPig so it seemed like he was trying to combine 3 things like his brother was trying to at first with combining Vampire, Werewolf & Cat but then decided to drop the Vamp & focus more on the cat... ...so I ignored the man part for Mal not thinking it really that important and proceeded to make up what I imagined a zombie pig would look like, gave him some tusks and a ripped up shirt and thought I did okay. He kept insisting I add in visible bones and things but I just thought he was really dedicated to some mental image he had for his costume. Anyway, both boys said they liked what I did and they they got candy on a tricker trail in the park and work it to school no complaints. Todd went as a Deadwing (white face, blacked eyes and redwing jersey) for the trail and I was a Witch-Lite (hat & cape & Luna’s wand & Hogwarts tshirt). Overall I thought I was satisfied with my creations. And then.... Shared with a friend what the boys were and he goes Zombie Pig is hilarious. Kids getting into Minecraft? And I’m all, wait, what?? You mean that’s a thing from Minecraft? I didn’t have to make it up from my own mind. Crap. How bad did I get it wrong for this poor kid. Go to look and I’m told I got the color scheme pretty okay but then I felt really bad I didn’t give him what he really wanted. I’d have painted a box for his head if I’d have known. Sigh. #momcostumerfail #askmorequestionsnexttime This is what comes of not getting clarification from your commissioner. At least Michael took it in stride.

I think about this episode ALL the time. I’ve repurposed many an item into something new, but not that many of a singular item into so many new looks. Marge need some multi-way built into design items and she wouldn’t have gone so crazy.
