Mathew Rakers will be accompanying violinists Jesus Cervantes and Jayson Resto, the former and current concert masters of the SDSU symphony, for an evening of Prokofiev, Bartok, and Shostakovich. This will be followed by a live improvisation on solo piano. $3 reservation and $10 suggested donation.

Duo Violin #42 Arabian Song Testing the live stream set up with violin instructor Jesus Cervantes

We spent 12+ hours with Emerald Age Recording completing and testing our movable live stream set up. Wheeling it around the studio was pretty satisfying. We started at 11:30am, and finished around midnight with an evening yakitori break at Yokohama Yakitori Koubou’s new outdoor setup. That business knows how to do things right... We ran a test of cross streaming to multiple platforms simultaneously and after some trial and error, dialed in the audio. Doing live streams right takes some serious work! We’ll be having one more test day before launching socially distant and remote performances on 8-22. #sandiegopianolessons #sandiegolivestream #sandiegoartlessons #sociallydistantperformances #adaptation

I installed seven @gikacoustics sound panels in our @schimmelpianos room. What a cool design!!! Four acoustic sound absorbers and diffusers on one wall are facing three acoustic panels on the other wall. This will improve the quality of the solo piano recordings that take place at @sandiegomusicandart We’ll be making a few more small improvements to the room in the coming month, but I’m stoked to finally be approaching a solid recording room! #sandiegopianolessons #sandiegoartlessons

Premiering August 22nd Live streamed and socially distant performances from the warehouse of @sandiegomusicandart First up, the first SDMAAC student recital of the year! A big thanks to @emeraldagerecording and @jamespage0 for spending the last couple months building a computer for us to run an ATEM mini pro. This camera switcher will allow us to run multiple cameras on performances and simultaneously use high quality mics through our mixer! Performances will be recorded ...via Emerald Age’s AEA R88A blum lined dual ribbon microphone or our two in-house AT4050 multi pattern condensers. Utilizing the upgraded 100 by 100 internet connection, we’ll be able to have fast upload speeds for high video and audio quality AND we’ll also have the capabilities for unison cross streaming to multiple platforms.
