Therapeutic Thai and Sports Massage in Los Angeles 12.10.2020

An update for my friends and family; I closed my office doors on Monday, March 15. I am following the requests of the California Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC) and American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) both of which are professional organizations that I am a member of, to not see clients at this time and practice social distancing. I'm truly disappointed that I cannot massage or teach as I love my business.. but I'm taking this time to be with family, cook, organize, deep-clean my office, thinking of creative ways to connect with my students.. and for that I am extremely grateful.

I’m absolutely thrilled to announce I’ve been accepted into a very special program developed by the Mayo Clinic to bring safe and therapeutic massage therapy to hospitals. I look forward to learning from the gold standard in compassionate care, and being part of the movement towards accepting complementary therapies in hospitals. Many thanks to my nursing instructor and my oncology clinic supervisor for writing recommendations to Mayo Clinic on my behalf. #massagetherapy #hospitalbasedmassagetherapy #therapeutic #oncologymassage #palliativecareteam #massagenurse #massagemagazine #losangeles #westlakevillage #massagetherapist #bodywork #complementarytherapies #wellness #health #hearttouchproject

All About Pulses Throwback.... in Thai massage we work deeply with pulses. The human body has multiple locations of pulses but in this clip I am demonstrating applying deep compression to 1. Feel the femoral pulse (upper leg) and 2. Feel the dorsalis pedis/posterior tibial pulse (lower leg near ankle). As a practitioner, you know that you are performing the move correctly when you feel the strong pulsing of your client vibrate into your own body. When you let your body weight... sink in and relax into your client, it gives a super deep relief that even the most stressed person can’t help but take a deep breath and let go. In classes, I compare it to slowly stepping down a water hose, closing down on the main channel of blood flow, so that when we release pressure by stepping off the water hosethe energy/blood flow will burst through powerfully and clear. It’s also interesting to see ifand can indicate possible medical issues when the different pulses of the body don’t match. For more in-depth discussion my next Thai massage class series will be Wednesday nights in October at Hands on Healing Institute, you can sign up by calling (818) 951-5811 or online at their website calendar @hands.on.healing ....This video is for demonstration purposes only, please do not attempt without training, and contraindications especially DVT and varicose veins do apply..............................................................#Thaimassage #deeptissue #massage #massagetherapy #sportsmassage #thaiyoga #pichestboonthumme #losangeles #mobilemassagetherapist #massagetherapist #massageceus #continuingeducation #amta #ncbtmb #thaimassageclass #thaimassagetutorial #massageclass #handsonhealinginstitute #bodywork #thaiyogabodywork #traditionalthaimassage #pulses #medicalmassage #nursingstudent #holistic #wellness #health See more

If you are a massage therapist, now is the time to start actively supporting @massagetherapyfoundation and the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA). The Massage Therapy Foundation has awarded $210,000 for a research grant to the Defense and Veterans Center for Integrative Pain Management (DVCIPM), for the two-year study, Massage Service Integration in a Military Primary Care Clinic: Implementation and Impact Study. The DoD and VA populations have significantly... higher prevalence of chronic pain compared to civilian populations. As a result, the opioid epidemic witnessed in the civilian population is mirrored in the DoD and VA populations. Opioid misuse, addiction, and overdose have reached historic proportions. This is a health emergency and it is essential that the massage therapy profession responds. The DoD agencies are struggling with the opioid crisis and DVCIPM is addressing how evidence-based research can be turned into actionable, sustainable recommendations to mitigate pain and improve care. This study is uniquely positioned to be impactful for veterans, as well as the general public, and to advance research and improve the lives of those affected by this debilitating epidemic. This study addresses how alternative/non-pharmacological therapies complement other interventions for pain and opioid abuse and addiction-related diseases, said Douglas Nelson, President, Massage Therapy Foundation. The study is funded with generous financial support from the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA). ..............#massagetherapy #massageresearch #hospitalmassage #massageinhospital #usa #veteran #military #veterans #army #usmc #marines #navy #airforce #america #usarmy #fitness #ww #ptsd #usnavy #motivation #soldier #armedforces #health #wellness #massageforhealth @ Body Logic Sports Therapy

THAI MASSAGE BOOKS I RECOMMEND: The first Thai massage book I read was by @thaimassageny . I’ve never taken her live courses in NY, but her captivating writing started my brain thinking about possibilities of travel one day. Later, I read @maria_mercati_uk and kept her book in my room at the spa I worked @canyonranchlv and I practiced off her diagrams. As I advanced in my practice, I worked @mo_hotels giving Thai bodywork, and I became aware of @kamthyechow (RIP) and I stil...l enjoy watching his YouTube videos and re-reading his work. When I visited @sivanandabahamas , where he used to teach, I felt his presence and appreciation for the beauty there. Seven Peppercorns by @nephyr is an amazing resource on theory, and Thai massage & Thai Healing Arts by Bob Haddad is incredibly informative on the true history of Thai massage. I recently was gifted a book on Partner Yoga written by @pbpartneryoga and it has amazing illustrations of Partner yoga + Thai massage. What are your favorite massage/or Thai massage books? Any recommendations? . #thaimassage #thaimassagecourse #reading #massagetherapy #massagetherapist #continuingeducation #thaiyogamassage #traditionalthaimassage #thaiyoga #partneryoga #yoga #alwaysastudent #losangeles #thousandoaks #thailand #thaibodywork #bodywork #massage #reader @ Thousand Oaks, California See more

Practice is the only path to confidence. True skill can only be attained in Thai bodywork through hours and hours of practice. I always wanted to be good at Thai massage.. I first read books. A few years later, I attended a weekend workshop. And then another weekend workshop, and then another. Still trying to grasp a comfortableness that stayed out of my reach. I tried different teachers and styles, seeking confidence and I kept failing. I even went so far as to attend an ou...t of state 200-hour Thai training. I still felt clumsy. Then, I went to Thailand with my group of fellow classmates. I met my teacher, Pichest Boonthumme. In his space, he welcomes students Mon-Friday 9am-4pm to practice. Well, within a few months I was spending months at a time in that room. And later, (another long story), I ended up living in a guest house at his home/school for around 1.5 years and I practiced in that room every day. I was able to practice with teachers and students all around the world, under the eye of a master teacher. Are there people who practiced more? Yes! Do I have more practice time than 98% of American Thai practitioners? Yes! I now have a confidence and intelligence with Thai massage that enables me to feel at peace when I work. I know in my bones and heart that I serve my clients in the highest quality. And it comes from practice, every day practice. I welcome fellow Thai massage practitioners to practice with me and I encourage my students to practice together. One day I hope to have a space, like Pichest, where you can come as you are, and just practice. #thaimassage #thaimassageclass #thaiyogamassage #thaiyogabodywork #pichestboonthumme #alwaysastudent #massagetherapist #massagetherapy #yoga #thailand #chiangmai #losangeles #thousandoaks #thaihealing #bodywork #massagecontinuingeducation #massageteacher #continuingeducation @ Chiang Mai, Thailand See more
