It’s loads of fun, and I literally get to hang out with my amazing clients all day and make them look beautiful! It’s a rad job! .... However, occasionally, we encounter people who feel they are allowed to negotiate their service cost... I personally feel disrespected in these RARE moments and here’s why . This is my career! I went to school, studied my butt off and dedicated myself to this industry in order to be a licensed cosmetologist, by the state of CA . Aside from my 25k tuition @paulmitchelledu, I have invested thousands of dollars and hours into my advanced continued education. Education MATTERS!! . This is a business! Yes it is fun, but numbers matter!!! Hairstylist’s don’t have health insurance or dental benefits, vacation time, maternity leave, or sick leave. We don’t have 401k’s or any other retirement options setup. We don’t have annul reviews for a raise or bonuses.. but yet the cost of living continues to increase! Inflation for color, products, booth rent, advertising, utilities etc continue to increase yearly, so as an independent stylist, we have to raise our prices accordingly! . I have 14 years experience in this industry and time is money! The hours I have put behind the chair qualify me to know what I’m doing and gives each of my guest the assurance that they are in good hands! Chances are, I’ve seen that at home color gone wrong, or that over processed blonde who’s hair melted off, and I know what steps to take to start to correct the problem! . Remember that your hairstylist loves you and loves catching up with you every 6 weeks, but also remember that this is our livelihood! You essentially need to pull out all the pigment from the hair and deposit the silver tones. Even after all that, the toner will eventually fall out and warmth will begin to return again. Heading towards these shades are both time and money commitments, as it takes multiple sessions to achieve & at home maintenance is *essential* to keep the integrity of the hair intact #leilanihairpixie #crafthaircolor
