The Living Room 26.01.2021

Check out this wonderful event. Happening tomorrow!

The Living Room 25.12.2020

We have had such an enormous outpouring of community spirit this holiday season. Even though we could not host our traditional holiday extravaganza, we were able to make sure that 87 Mothers and 216 kids were taken care of and will have gifts under the tree. Additionally, our housing residents were adopted and totally spoiled this Christmas. And tomorrow... we will be delivering 100 Christmas Eve dinners. On behalf of Women's Services Coordinator, Angelica Smith and the rest... of TLR staff we would like to thank: The Welfare League First United Methodist Church Santa Tim Sonoma County CHP Marcy & Jerry Clausen Girl Scout Troop #10064 Anytime Fitness of Santa Rosa The many anonymous private citizens who adopted our participants Christmas Carol Sonoma County Acts of Kindness Love to Table Wild Oak Saddle Club and our wonderful volunteers, Perri, Fritzen and Jasmin who wrapped gifts and toys for days! Thank you to all... it literally takes a village! Merry Christmas!

Without the support of the community we would not be able to do the work we do. We are always grateful and humbled by your generosity. https://thelivingroomsc.org/how-to-help/#financial-donations

While volunteering at The Living Room artist Susan Cornelis made friends with the women and children, sketching their portraits and listening to their stories about homelessness and more. To see more portrait stories visit the Santa Rosa Public Arts website exhibition of the work at https://www.insideoutthere.com/this-is-my-story-women-and-/ https://www.facebook.com/susan.cornelis/ https://thelivingroomsc.org/

The Living Room has been without power all day. Sorry if you’ve been trying to reach us. Crews are on the scene and repairing the issue so we should be good to go for tomorrow.

We were so honored to receive this letter from a participant who recently moved on from our transitional housing into a home of her own with her partner. Congratulations to Louise and Kevin. May they live happily ever after! The Living Room was very helpful from the first day that I stepped in. Everybody was very sincere, helpful, caring, and loving. The more I learned about The Living Room, the more I fell in love with it. I most appreciated the clothing, two hot meals a day..., the mental support with counseling, and classes because it gave me a safe place to go and a space to express myself. Natalie is always my go to person, I trusted her that she would help me and guide me with whatever I needed. She exceeded herself in everything that I asked for help with. She was able to help me create resumes for housing and supported me mentally. With Natalie’s help, trust, and faith in me, I moved into a beautiful home in Windsor. I chose transitional housing at The Living Room because I already had a relationship with the staff and other participants and I knew it was a safe place for me. I was confident that I could prosper with the support of staff and other participants with regard to my sobriety and stability. Since I have two and a half years sober and I found permanent housing, my mom gave me my grandmother's bedroom set. My mom is 90 now so it is an old bedroom set. She is also giving me my baby dresser that I had as a baby and I'm 48 years old now. She gave me some of my dad’s items that were sentimental because he passed away in 2002. Being sober and having a stable place to call home means a lot, I never would have dreamed that this day would come. My mom is giving me these sentimental items with a smile on her face, she prayed every day for me to get my life together; to get sober find happiness and I've done that with the help of The Living Room. I have kept my sobriety and been given a safe place to go. The Living Room was a stepping stone for me to find stability and comfort. I have my own place to call home now and I am so grateful for The Living Room and all the ladies that work there, thank you.

We are in short supply of size 5 and 6 diapers and baby wipes. If you have an unopened package that you aren't using or are willing to throw an extra box onto your cart next time you're shopping we will put them to good use. This photo is just a representation of the need... any brand works. Thank you for your consideration.
