Here are some other facts about the empowerpeople2020 project. Four of us are founders, and 3 are Black women (@ladydyeyarns @bzypeach @ajacksonillustrations and I make up the four.) Of the 11 people who contributed, eight are People of Color. LGBTQ+ and people with disabilities were represented. Is emPower People consistent wi...th BLM? Yes! Getting people to vote locally and nationally is necessary for any lasting change. The color purple? I will explain that later but there is a funny story involved so it’s for another post. When @ladydyeyarns and I started talking about this idea one night, the common principle was that that we ALL work together and that Unity be an underlying theme throughout. But remember that we are just a few people and it means nothing if you and your customers, friends, knitting, hooking, sewing groups etc. don’t take it and run! Our hope is to see a sea of purple which will remind everyone who sees it that your vote is NEEDED. Crafters are powerful people and we are ALWAYS underestimated! We will let you know about periodic calls to action but for now, I just hope and pray that you will spread the word and knit, crochet, or sew some bandanas!! Hello! I decided to #doubleknit a face #mask. I’m using #liana yarn by @berrocoyarn because then I can be matchy matchy with the top I knit last week. I was curious to see if a double knit mask made any practical sense- on the one hand you can put a filter in between the layers (maybe); on the other hand will it be too thick? This yarn is a linen blend wrapped with different colors that when knit create a variegated wave effect. It feels slinky. I really need work on my selfie skills but I want to show you the top anyway!
