At the city council meeting earlier this evening, we made progress with the Cannibis Social Equity Program. Thanks to Vice Mayor Rex Richardson for accepting my... friendly amendment to ensure we keep the program eligibility targeted and focused on individuals and communities negatively impacted by prior criminalization of cannibis. 2020 May have been mostly unexpected but The LBCA managed to keep things moving in Long Beach thanks to our amazing members and volunteers whose dedication so safe and legal access has led us to shaping more policies, educating our community and helping them thrive! {Food/Toy Drive Thru} Last food pantry drive thru was a success!! Thank you to LBCA members and community partners for making this an extra special event for families in greatest need in our community. So much work to be done and this allows for much more of it. #cannabiscommunity @marijuanamoment A key United Nations (UN) panel approved a World Health Organization (WHO) recommendation to remove marijuana from the most restrictive global scheduling category on Wednesday. With the backing of the U.S. government, the U...N’s Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) adopted the proposal to delete cannabis from Schedule IV of the 1961 Single Convention. This doesn’t mean that member nations are cleared to legalize marijuana, however, as it remains under the separate Schedule I of the international drug control system. But advocates say it demonstrates an evolution in how the international community views cannabis policy, as it formally recognizes the medical value of the plant and it could promote further research into its therapeutic potential.
