It is no surprise that the holiest human being to have ever lived or will ever live is a woman. After all, she did carry Christ in her womb. It is this woman that receives the greatest honor and veneration among humanity. By this same woman, the door of salvation was opened and the dignity of the whole human race was elevated to its rightful place. This fact, the Church proudly declares. The Church also extends her honor and praise to countless other women that have walked in... the footsteps of St. Mary until this day. While society has, for centuries, fought for gender equality, the Church never needed to do so, as her honor for women is a self-evident reality. Yet for some of us, we still wonder if this is really the case. We wonder if the Church sufficiently honors all women. We wonder if the Church should do more. And if the Church really is doing her part, we wonder why so many women still feel insignificant or displaced from the Church. Maybe we’re not really living up to what the Church has intended in maintaining the dignity of women. In any case, there’s much to consider here, and, thankfully, we have the privilege of one of the best scholars, Dr. Donna Rizk Asdourian, PhD., offering her time to us to shed some light on these matters. Dr. Donna Rizk Asdourian has spent the majority of her life studying theology and has passionately dedicated the bulk of her focus on this particular topic, so it is a wonderful opportunity to have her giving us a seminar on this subject. We invite you to join us on Sunday, September 13th at 6:45PM via our YouTube channel as we discuss this all important topic. This seminar will follow our regular seminar format of three sessions (two talks, one Q&A), with short breaks between each session. We sincerely hope you can join us!
What is humanism? For many of us, this is an unfamiliar term, and for the few that have heard of it, little is understood about it. In this presentation, Fr. Antony Paul will explore this broad concept called humanism, which is actually almost a formalised religion for some atheists, and even a philosophical concept to those who might not be atheists. This presentation will give some history about the concept in order to illustrate that it’s a [not-so] silent way of thinking ...that has pervaded secular society, but more importantly, has also pervaded the thoughts of many of us Christians. We will learn about the dangers of this seemingly innocent philosophy and how society uses this egocentric way of life to appear virtuous. We invite you to join us on August 2nd at 6:45PM via our YouTube channel as we discuss the concept of humanism, define what it means, explain why it’s a big deal, and learn about the repercussions of a human-centred world view.
