Winter means the heaters are blasting and our plant babies are suffering from the super dry air inside our homes. So another great way to water your tropical plants, is by adding humidity around them to prevent those crusty brown leaves. There are different ways to create artificial humidity, but our absolute favorite (because it def works the best) is a legit humidifier for your tropical plant babies to thrive throughout the winter #WateringWednesday #FLYTLCTIPS

The Scindapsus Pictus Exotica definitely gives us holiday vibes with its frosty cascading foliage. Not to mention how easy she is to care for, especially with all the holiday hustle and bustle. She’s super resilient and can tolerate medium to low-ish light conditions (cuz you know this daylight savings time got us all in the dark by 5pm). If you have LED lights near here, even better. She also likes to be dried out between waterings, which is good because the heater is blasting and it’s literally sucking all the moisture out of the air. But the best part is, she is easy to propagate from her cuttings where you can grow Lil Exotica plant babies and gift them to loved ones. For all you FLY plant mamas and plant papas who like low maintenance and easy going plants with dope foliage, we vote for the beautiful and super resilient Scindapsus Pictus Argyraeus. They’re down for medium to bright indirect light but they can tolerate a lower light situation. They don’t like to be overwatered so you can leave them be for at least a week and a half or when the soil is almost dried out. They’re super chill to be placed on a shelf or table top where their vines can cascade and drape down, or you can stake them up and let them crawl on walls, trellises, and furniture. When a seed is planted in good soil with aeration and rich nutrients, it will allow its roots to sprout and grow over time with good care. But each plant is different and they all have unique needs and specific soil for each one to grow and thrive. One of the ways you can tell if the roots are healthy and becoming strong in its soil, is when the plant starts to produce new growth. If the soil is old, hard, or moldy, the roots will go bad and the plant will eventually suffer. Same goes for us humans. One way to tell if you’ve been planted and rooted in good soil (which is your environment), you will see growth in your life. If you’re planted in toxic soil, it will show in your character. A lot of plants prefer to be root bound in order for the plant to stand strong and tall. But when there’s no more room in the pot for the roots to go, they will eventually suffocate and stunt the growth of the plant. So in order for it to continue to thrive, you have to be ready to do the down and dirty root work by repotting the plant into a bigger pot to give the roots more room to grow. Same goes for us humans. If we want to continue to thrive in our lives, we have to be ready and willing to check our own roots and do the hard work in uncomfortable situations, so that we can continue to grow through our challenges.
