CLEAN CITY UPDATE--INFO TO HEL0 KEEP OUR CITY CLEAN DURING COVID-19 CRISIS PLEASE DO NOT SET ANY UNWANTED ITEMS INTO THE SIDEWALKS OR STREETS EVEN IF YOU HAVE A SCHEDULED BULKY WASTE PICK-UP Recology is required to "shelter in place" with the rest of us. They must only conduct "essential operations." Those have been identified below. Any other services such as Hazardous Waste Drop-off, bulky waste collection, illegal dumping, etc will cease as of today. ... Residential/Commercial Collection Operations: These operations are deemed essential to the public health of our community and will continue in their full capacity. Should Recology’s skilled labor pool be directly impacted by this virus due to non-availability of a significant portion of their workers, Recology will reduce operations appropriately, on a priority basis. Any significant service adjustments decisions will be conducted in consultation with me and our senior SBWMA staff team. Please see Recology’s attached note for further insights Shoreway Facility/Materials handling operations: CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC This facility and the aggregated movement of waste, recyclable and compost materials is also deemed essential to maintain our community’s public health standards. SBR’s emphasis will support our essential franchise operations. This means handling the material that Recology delivers to our site. This also means that we’ll be closed to the public because any such activities would be violating the public health order.

Per actions taken at the City Council last night, Enforcement of Street Sweeping Violations During the Shelter in Place Order Has Been Temporarily Deferred At the request of the Public Works Director, and in conformance with the City Manager and Chief of Police, the Police Department is suspending enforcement of street sweeping parking violations through April 30, 2020. This date may be extended as needed to coincide with the Shelter in Place Order. The department will cont...inue to enforce parking violations that are the result of complaints (except street sweeping), parked vehicles that are creating a hazardous condition, and vehicles deemed to have been abandoned. Staff acknowledges that some residents may not be in favor of relaxing enforcement of street sweeping violations during the Shelter in Place Order. Staff will monitor feedback from the community during this time and will provide the City Council with updates as the City’s response evolves.
