We wanted to follow up on a post we shared yesterday about the upcoming policy changes to Facebooks terms and conditions which will take affect on October the 1st. In the article we shared it appeared as if artists could be in jeopardy especially when it came to sharing live music streams. Upon digging a little deeper and reading other interviews we have discovered that Facebooks terms and conditions have gone largely unchanged since 2018 as it pertains to music.... So to simplify heres what we learned. Facebook isn't limiting musician's. The bans and potential account deletions that the original article talked about were speaking in regards to individuals sharing licensed music without permission. This rule is pretty much already in effect across YouTube and other social sites. It means you can't play an AC/DC track in the background during your video. But, this doesn't mean that you can share music if you own it either. Let me explain. If an artist releases a new EP and wants to have a "streaming party" via video this might not fly. Facebooks key words are social network. This means they want to keep the experience fun and social for everyone so a static image of your album art while the tracks play won't fly but you can play the tracks live on your page. When it comes to streaming MP3's its best left to Spotify. So in a nutshell yes you can still air live digital concert streams. You just can't stream Playlist even if you own the music. Thankfully the easy workaround for those that want that is to upload the stream to YouTube and then link it to your music page on Facebook. Hopefully this clears things up and puts your mind at ease. Keep fighting the good fight and rock on!

Starting October 1st Facebooks new terms and conditions will look to ban the streaming of live music. Read the short article for more details. As we've said in the past Facebook doesn't fit the needs of musician's. This is where the very concept of This Is Music was born.... We will continue to build www.thisismusic.live and develop solutions for musician's both online and off.

Alright musicians, Here's the moment you may have been waiting for. I'm now taking inquiries for those wanting to play the Drive in concert. The date is not confirmed yet but I believe enough progress has been made that we can start to confirm talent. ... Of course with the date still TBA flexibility is important. I think given the state of the pandemic right now that means most people's schedules are open. So far the plan is for this to be a one time event. If things go well we can talk about more drive in shows in the future. Professionals are a must. Bands must be willing to help us promote. The goal is to sell the venue out so we can have more opportunities going forward. This has the potential to be a great opportunity both during and after the pandemic so lets grow together and create unique options for musicians.
