Dear Cat Lovers, A friend of a friend of mine runs a cat sanctuary out of Modesto called "Kitty Haven". Please read on about the love and commitment she has towards many less fortunate cats. If you feel inclined to help her with a small donation, the information is below....Thanks for reading! Kitty Haven Sanctuary and Rescue, Inc., in Modesto, is owned and operated by Candy Childers 30 years. It all began when her cat, Sammy, alerted her to the fact that her daughter, asl...eep in another room, had a very high fever. Sammy would not leave Candy alone until she followed him into the girl’s room. The doctor who treated her daughter credited Sammy with saving the girl’s life. From then on, Candy began her work of helping abandoned, oftentimes injured cats. Burn victims, cats with multiple broken bones requiring thousands of dollars worth of treatment, kittens rescued from a drum of oil at a gas station, another found with a fish hook in its back, having been used as bait by a fisherman. These and many more cats have found their way to Kitty Haven and a second chance for a good life. Many times the vets tried to discourage her from trying to help these cats. Because she refused to give up, a blind cat now has a loving home, a cat that developed paralysis in his legs responded to a holistic medicine it was given every 2 hours for 3 months. It now walks and has also found a home. The diabetic cats and those who have cancer are also cared for at Kitty Haven. Thanks to her love of animals, her determination to help them and a combination of Western and holistic medicines, Candy has numerous cats who recover and thrive well beyond 20 years of age. These success stories and many more like them continue to fuel her passion in helping those who need it most. In addition to the actual labor involved in keeping these cats feed, their 50+ litter boxes clean (she has no paid staff), Candy works trying to find homes for these cats. The money she gets when one is adopted helps fund her operation. Just when she finds one a home, a few more get brought in and the vet bills continue once again. Now, Kitty Haven is in need of help. Her donations have become practically non-existent and at the same time, requests from people who can no longer afford to keep their pets are on the rise. Any monetary donation (monthly food and litter bills alone top $ 1,500 ) would be greatly appreciated. 100% of your tax-deductible donation goes to benefit the animals. If you would like to adopt or sponsor a cat from the sanctuary that would also help ensure the shelter can continue its good work look up Kitty Haven on their website, www.kittyhavenrescue.org. I am sure she would appreciate anything you can think of to help her operation going.
