Ben '21 reflects back on his time at Bay and is so thankful for his experience. Thankful for the opportunity to authentically engage with students and teachers as an 8th grader; to developing meaningful relationships with teachers, staffulty, and his advisors. He knows that no matter what comes next, his Bay community will have his back. #BaySchoolSF #BaySchoolBrave #BayCommunity

A group of students were recently asked to reflect on their time at Bay and what it was like to go through the application process as an 8th grader. Over the next few weeks, you will see, hear, and listen to their responses of advice, opinions, and expertise about The Bay School of San Francisco. Cara '21, has grown to love and appreciate Bay's commitment to have challenging, yet vital conversations. #BaySchoolBrave #BaySchoolSF #FutureResponsiveness

BAY ALUMNA Cindy Dzib Tuz '11 and her brother have created an incredible way to tell stories and help preserve an indigenous language at the same time: Filming members of the Mayan diaspora sharing their personal histories in the middle of the Mission District's In Chan Kaajal park. Many congratulations on this project that beautifully gives to and receives from the community. #BaySchoolBrave #MundoMaya #CulturaMaya

Recently we were treated to a Q&A with Colin Woodard, journalist and author of American Nations. Woodard posits that the colonizers of North America brought with them cultural bents that turned out to be good predictive tools for where we've ended up now as a nation. Thank you, Mr. Woodard, for an interesting and extremely timely conversation. #BaySchoolHistory #BaySchoolBrave #BaySchoolSF

The Bay School's inclusive tuition model means that the total cost covers *everything* related to a Bay education, including Senior Signature Projects. The SSP is a capstone 200-hour deep dive take into a topic of a senior student's choosing. This year's projects so far include Medieval art, cancer and genetics, and a radio show. Our inclusive model also covers a laptop, lunch, team uniforms, Immersive class trips, and more. Bay families are invited to a virtual discussion Wednesday evening with Nicholas Buccola about his book The Fire Is Upon Us, which examines the back stories and historical context for the 1965 Cambridge debate between James Baldwin and William F. Buckley. Ibram X. Kendi calls the book "a vital read," as the questions it addresses are as pressing as ever. Details for attending were in last week's Current and will be in Tuesday's issue as well. #BaySchoolBrave #BaySchoolSF #BaySchoolBrave #BaySchoolSF

The Bay School sits on Ohlone land. To mark #IndigenousPeoplesDay2020, hear the words of local Ohlone leader and renowned speaker on Indian rights Corrina Gould and cast your imagination to a time when the Bay Area was characterized by abundance for all and a spirit of hospitality. Lift up #IndigenousVoices. https://youtu.be/_eJhZKrdTT0

We all have mental health! And tomorrow, October 10th, is World Mental Health Day. We encourage you to prioritize your own mental health as it is responsible for so much of our lives, maybe all of it, especially now. So take the time this weekend, and every weekend, for some self-care! Have a dance party in your kitchen, mow the lawn, play cricket, or go on a hike. Whatever it may be, have fun and take care! This is #BaySchoolBrave. #BaySchoolSF #WorldMentalHealthDay #BreakTheStigma
