Dr. Josie Morales 11.02.2021

This last week I quietly cleared my schedule to allow myself time to monitor the developing public health concern of COVID-19, speak with colleagues, and do some soul searching. Today I am writing to officially announce that my office will be closed through at least Sunday, April 5th. The exact reopening date will be determined by the trajectory of our infection curve in the United States, the status of our hospital systems/workers, and recommendations from the WHO, CDC and ...state and local officials. I am available for phone consultations and possible emergency office visits if you have severe musculoskeletal pain, headaches or extreme stress and would like to try to avoid going to the Emergency Department or Urgent Care. I will not be using social media during this time. You can contact me directly at 619-738-0634 (text or call). I look forward to returning to a more sustainable world filled with mindfulness, appreciation and love. Catch you on the other side.

Due to the growing number of people testing positive for COVID-19 in San Diego County, and the possibility of overwhelming our medical system if we do not reduce transmission, I have closed for the week of 3/16. If you have an appointment scheduled the weeks of 3/23 and 3/30 I will reach out to you individually before your appointment to inform you whether or not I will be open. You are more than welcome to cancel your appointment before that if you are sick or concerned. Online booking is available for appointments 4/6 and beyond. Stay well and let's flatten the curve.

I do not want to add to the quickly growing epidemic of panic and fear, but I do feel compelled to make a statement due to the hands-on nature of my practice. At this time several people have tested positive for the virus in San Diego county, but the County’s Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has continued to assess the risk for the general population of San Diego as low. I will continue to monitor websites of the CDC, California Department of Public Health and t...he San Diego County DHHS on a daily basis and will update my practice policies based on their recommendations. Currently, my practice remains open. I have always taken cleanliness and hand hygiene seriously and will continue to do so through this pandemic as follows: hand washing in between each client, disinfecting all tables/treatment devices in between each client, using fresh linens for each client, frequently disinfecting door knobs/desks/keyboards and other surfaces regularly touched. If symptoms are noticed in myself or a family member I will immediately clear my schedule. If you or a family member have any symptoms, or you would like to postpone your appointment for personal or public health reasons, please cancel/reschedule your appointment online. During this time I will be allowing online cancellations without fees up until the moment of your appointment, but would appreciate as much notice as possible. If you have trouble cancelling your appointment online or have any other questions or concerns I can be reached by text, phone or email. The overall health and vibrancy of our community will be maintained by a mindful response to this growing concern, not a panicked reaction. Please remember that we are all in this together--wash your hands, support small businesses, and be kind.

Social media recently reminded me that I graduated from chiropractic school just about 5 years ago. I don’t usually take time to reflect on these facebook curated memories, but this one stopped me dead in my tracks--my eyes tired from years of study, but excited for what the future holds. School was a lot of work, but the last 5 years have been some of the most challenging yet rewarding years of my life. I lost my mother. I met my husband. ... I married my husband. I learned that pregnancy, delivery, birth and motherhood are not terrible and scary things (Thanks to Dr. Karin and all the lovely families I work with) I had to pick up shifts as an RN to supplement my income. I opened my own practice. When that picture was taken I’m not sure where I thought I would be in 5 years, but it definitely wasn’t here. Here’s to another 5 years of this beautiful thing called life!
