O God of Mercy: We hear the persistent call to feed the hungry and find shelter for the homeless. Stir our hearts to move more deeply in our walk with Jesus. Help us answer the question, Why do we feel comfortable living beyond our needs when others do not have their basic needs met?... Help us not be hypocrites of lip service but the disciples of action. Keep our hearts soft enough to keep hearing the cry of the hungry and the homeless. Amen.

I cried out to Him with my mouth, and praised Him with my tongue. If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. But God has surely heard; He has attended to the sound of my prayer. Blessed be God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld from me His loving devotion! -Psalm 66:16-20 Walk in peace,

The handicapped are still being discriminated. Open your eyes, to all the obstacles in their path. Reach out to officials to repair sidewalks that are impassible, buildings that are impossible to enter, etc. It is hard to be part of society when you can't be in it.

Rodney Smith Jr., who legally came to the US about 15 years ago, is known for his lawn mowing business that helps veterans and other vulnerable members of the community for free. Now, his ability to stay in the country is in jeopardy. "I will continue to fight to earn permanent residency, but my options are limited."
