Today, February 23, 2013, Karen earned her first JOAD Xperience pin. She completed all 4 of her goals in one class which earned her the White pin for knowing archery safetly procedures and rules. Great Job Karen!
Finally! Construction begins on expanding the archery facilities at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista. This will include an indoor archery range that will allow archers to shoot 70 meters in any type of weather.

On Saturday, February 9 2013, these 4 archers earned their first pin in USA Archery's, JOAD Achievement Prgram. Just as the adults pictured below, these archers are part of the Beyond Archery class and have been shooting for 9 months now. Congratulations Jonathan, Mitchell, Catherine, and Patrick!
On Saturday Galo earned his White pin. Today, shooting after the beginning archery class he shot his best group yet!

On Saturday, February 16, Dede and Galo completed all of their goal for the White pen-Safety and Rules. This All archers currently enrolled in the Intermediate and Advanced class through Escondido Recreation are eligible to participate in the USA Archery JOAD Xperience Program. Dede and Galo were the first two students to attain a pen in this new program. Great job you two! Look for more acomplishments from other archers soon.
The Second Arrow also welcomes Karen Evans to the Instructor Archery staff. Karen is a Level 1 instructor and a vice-principle at a La Mesa school where an OAS (Olympic Archery in the Schools) program has just been started.
The Second Arrow welcomes Josh Harper to the Instructor Archery staff. Josh is a Level 1 instructor and has a interest in Turksih Archery and Instinctive Style Shooting.

Saturday Escondido Recreation Classes for February 9th: For my Saturday students checking in tonight. I am planning on holding all the classes tomorrow. The weather report says it is supposed to be sunny all day and right now I am holding onto that thought. If it is still raining in the morning I will call everyone to cancel class.
Archery lessons are now being given at Disneyland with Ye ol' fashioned bows and arrows!

Olympic Archery Trials-2nd Round Qualifying: Chula Vista Training Center: The event will start next Monday, April 23rd, with an open practice in the afternoon, but the main action will start on Tuesday at approximately 8 a.m. Tuesday - morning there will be a 72 arrow ranking round for the full team competing for the spots - 16 men and 16 women. In the afternoon they will all be shooting the first 3 of the "Round Robin Matches" where they go head to head against each other i...n their divisions. Wednesday - there will be 8 more matches - This is also the first (practice) day for the Para-Olympic Trials. Thursday - there will be the last 4 matches, following which the team will be cut to the Top 8 archers. This will be the first day of competition for our Para-Archers who will shoot a 72 arrow ranking round. Friday - morning will consist of Elimination Rounds (Top 8 archers) - This will also be the second day of ranking for the Para-Archers who will shoot another 72 arrow round. Saturday - will be 7 Round Robin Matches - Our Para-Archers will also be shooting Round Robin Matches that day.

Due to the popular response to my upcoming archery classes, Escondido Recreation and The Second Arrow have just added a third class from 11:00-11:55 for youth and adults. Classes begin this Saturday and will run for 7 weeks.

The Second Arrow and the City of Escondido have partnered up and I will be starting Beginning Archery classes in April. This arrangement has taken over a year and a half but both parties are happy that this endeavor is about to begin. The first session will have two beginning classes, one for children and adults, and the second for adults only. The price is $84.00 for the 7 week course and both classes will meet on Saturday mornings. All equipment will be provided and recurve bows will be used. Please read the flyer or contact me if you have more questions.
The Second Arrow will have a booth at this event which will allow you to come out and try shooting a bow and arrow for a small fee. We look forward to seeing you there.
