Here are some pics of us using our new motorized tincture press for the first time. We were pressing osha root.

Adriane's parents came to visit, and helped us harvest/process balsam root. Also assisting were Max and Ashley. We harvested, we talked about black lives mattering, and I accidentally flung a shovel full of dirt into George's (Adriane's father) face.

We went to look for this rare monkey flower today. It is one of the smallest monkey flowers in the world. It was thought to be extinct at one point, but it turns out that it is just very very wee, and thus hard to find (though still very rare). So diminuitive...

Here are some photos from yesterday's Pedicularis deisiflora harvest (aka Indian Warrior). This plant is a fantastic skeletal muscle relaxant that does not dull the mind. Thanks Ash Ritter for the photos.

I want to share that I am moving away from the San Francisco Bay Area. San Francisco has been home for myself and my partner Adriane for our entire lives. We have been running the San Francisco Botanical Medicine Clinic here for the past twenty three years. At present, we serve around seventy people a week. About half of that work is done pro bono. We clearly hold an important position in the local community fabric, but we have to move. The financial success of the computer t...ech industry, has driven up the cost of living in an extreme way. Our rent has gone up by $800 per month in just the last year alone. On top of that, around half of our clients pay us little to nothing for our services. The economic conditions in the Bay Area have drastically increased the number of people who are needing financial aid in order to receive health care. Also, I believe that the stress of current world affairs, has led people to be more disorganized, and as a result, we have been experiencing more frequent scheduling snafus (missed appointments and such). This has been the coup de grĂ¢ce that has sent us over the edge. We are moving to Quincy California in March. It is a mountain town, that is about an hour and a half drive north of Lake Tahoe. It is a beautiful area, so there is that. There are many positives, despite the necessity of the move being less than welcome. We will be continuing to run the clinic under the title of, the Plumas Botanical Medicine Clinic (a clinic in exile). We are committed to continuing to serve those who rely on us for their health needs. We will still be running our booth at the Berkeley Farmer's Market as well, though for a time, we will be going every other week. It is my sincere hope, and request, that we receive the support of our communities in this transition. We have given everything, in service to offering support to our communities in the way we do. We threw all in. We tried to let principal and compassion guide our hand in how we have constructed our way of life. Now more than ever, we could benefit from some of that care reflected back toward us. Please support our clinic. We have never asked for handouts, and do not intend to start. We do ask that if you need herbs, to please consider getting them from us. We offer exquisite quality, at the lowest prices around. Plus you are supporting us, and everyone we serve. It would mean so much to me, to feel like my community has my back right now. thank you
