Thank you for the recognition!
There is currently no real solid answer, but there is a chance employers may be allowed to require their employees get vaccinated. "Many healthcare workers must receive certain vaccinations as a condition of their employment, the National Law Review points out; and both EEOC and OSHA, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, have permitted mandatory flu vaccinations, most recently during 2009’s H1N1 pandemic."

#repost @zartonkmedia PM Nikol Pashinyan Claims Turkey’s Presence In The Conflict Is To Continue The Armenian Genocide. Why has Turkey returned to the South Caucasus 100 years later? To continue the Armenian Genocide.... For Turkey, however, continuing a genocidal policy is not only a means of implementing Armenophobia, but also a pragmatic task. Armenia and the Armenians of the South Caucasus are the last remaining obstacle on the way of continued Turkish expansion towards the North, the North East, and the East, and the realization of its imperialistic dream. It is no longer merely the Karabakh issue, nor a security issue of the Armenian people. It is now an issue of international security, and today, the Armenian people are defending also international security, assuming what may be a new historic mission.
A major loss to the legal world and to our entire country. A true hero. Thank you for paving the way for us. #repost @notoriousrbg In her oral dissent to the Supreme Court’s majority opinion invalidating a key provision of the Voting Rights Act, RBG quoted a familiar MLK Jr. line, but added her own coda. ‘The arc of the universe is long, but it bends toward justice,’ but only if there is a steadfast commitment to see the task through to completion.... RBG spent her life pushing to bend the arc. It is now upon all of us. May her memory be a blessing, and a revolution.
CA Governor Newsom signed a new bill which requires employers with five or more workers to offer 12 weeks of unpaid time off for family leave beginning Jan. 1. Currently, companies with 50 or more employees are required to provide 12 weeks of leave to care for a new child or a family member.
The judge found that there was an overwhelming likelihood that these companies have been misclassifying their drivers as contractors rather than employees based on a law that took effect Jan. 1, 2020, and sought to clarify the difference in how workers are classified.
The Supreme Court ruled that federal employment discrimination laws don’t apply to teachers who provide religious instruction at church schools. In one case, Kristen Biel sued St. James Catholic School in Torrance for disability discrimination after she disclosed she had breast cancer and her teaching contract wasn’t renewed. In the other case, Agnes Morrissey-Berru sued Our Lady of Guadalupe school in Hermosa Beach for age discrimination after her teaching contract wasn’t renewed when she was in her 60s.
The Supreme Court declared Monday that the historic Civil Rights Act of 1964 protects LGBTQ employees from workplace discrimination

Governor Newsom said California is now setting up the federal government’s Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program, which will provide benefits for certain unemployed individuals, including those who are self-employed, gig workers and independent contractors
#repost @theellenshow Today is #EqualPayDay. Can you imagine how you would feel if any of these facts applied to you? @ Burbank, California
Starting Jan. 1, new California laws take effect to rein in the gig economy, boost online privacy, discourage shootings by police, bar landlords from raising yearly rent prices and crack down on vaccine exemptions.
The main concern I've been hearing is from those employees who are required to stay home on an unpaid leave due to the coronavirus pandemic. There are options. You can file for unemployment. Unemployment insurance is available to those who lose hours or their position through no fault of their own, something happening at places (like restaurants and bars for example) in cities such as L.A. as local governments call for their closures.
The House of Representatives passed an annual defense authorization bill on Wednesday with a provision that provides all federal workers with 12 weeks of paid parental leave for the first time in American history

6th consecutive year at the #CELA Employment Law Conference
Governor Newsom just signed 15 worker protection bills to address sexual harassment, wage and health protections. These bills include several CELA-sponsored and... priority bills! Workers will now have more time to file harassment and discrimination claims (AB 9), stronger remedies if they are not paid on time (AB 673), better support for breastfeeding (SB 142), and the right to actually say NO to an arbitration agreement (AB 51). The Equal Pay Act requires that men and women in the same workplace be given equal pay for equal work. The jobs need not be identical, but they must be substantially equal. Discussing salaries with coworkers is protected for this reason. #EqualPayDay2019
