Hi Young Adult Families - We are excited to resume our Young Adult Social Group through zoom meetings. We will continue to meet the fourth Friday of the month, bi-monthly. We don't want our group to miss hanging out together. Friday, September 25, 2020 will be our first Zoom gathering. We will meet from 6:00 to 7:00pm. The first meeting will be a virtual Scavenger Hunt. This is a fun, interactive hunt. Everyone should be prepared to search the house for lots of fun stuff. ...We're preparing a special goodie bag filled with snacks and treats to enjoy while we meet. Please call the office at 626-919-1091 to register. After registering we'll send you a link to the Zoom meeting. And don't forget to set up a time to pick up your goodie bag. They'll be available for pick up starting Tuesday, September 22nd. We look forward to seeing everyone! Let us know if you have any questions. Sincerely, Valentina, Fele and Gloria

The Family Resource Center Network of CA (FRCNCA) has heard repeatedly from our member agencies that parents of young children and individuals with developmental disabilities need guidance and logistical support on the use of PPE/face coverings when accessing in the community. As parents, we recognize the need for face coverings, especially in high risk situations, however, we are aware that wearing a face covering may not be possible and can even be dangerous for some indivi...duals with disabilities. In support of the families we serve, we reached out to the Department of Developmental Services and Disability Rights California to identify current practice and solutions. First, all recommendations suggest the importance of seeking advice from a medical personnel who knows the child or adult best for guidance. However, there has been some confusion regarding whether children and adults with intellectual disabilities or developmental disabilities are required to wear a mask. The Guidance for the Use of Face Coverings released by the California Department of Public Health provides clarity on this issue, while not a blanket exemption, the guidance does state that "persons with a medical condition, mental health condition, or disability that prevents wearing a face covering" are exempt from doing so. As some public places are now required to enforce mask wearing, It was suggested by Disability Rights California that families print out this state bulletin information and carry it with them should they have issues in the community. In addition, if caregivers and others are comfortable, stores or venues can be provided a letter from a physician, this may also help with the accommodation. Following is the link to the PDF of the California Department of Public Health's Guidance: https://www.cdph.ca.gov//Guidance-for-Face-Coverings_06-18.
