We apologize to our patrons and will keep you posted, but Governor Newsom ordered all bars to close yesterday. We were open for 3 days. Not giving up!

The Sierra Madre community is simply amazing! Thank you SO much to everyone who supported the chili fundraiser yesterday! Our appreciation to Mike Comer, Tom De...nison, Rachelle Arizmendi and the Sierra Madre Thrives volunteers, Mike Kefalas at Only Place in Town, Matt and Brittainy Turnquist with Poppy Cake Baking Co. and the City of Sierra Madre is immeasurable!!! We are so excited to have the help from the amazing Sierra Madre Thrives organization in hosting this fundraising event! Drive up behind the bar next Wednesday, buy some chili and cornbread and say hi to your favorite bartenders! We miss all our friends and can’t wait to see you!

June 18 Update: Without LA County’s approval for bars to reopen, we are not allowed the use of our inside space. Using food trucks to be able to open with a back patio would only allow for 7 tables following distancing protocol and drinks could only be purchased together with a meal. Unfortunately, this scenario isn’t feasible for us from a financial standpoint as it wouldn’t enable us to fully compensate our employees, as well as presenting concerns about managing lines and ...safe-distancing. We remain hopeful with the decline in cases that we may once again offer a space for the community to gather. Thank you for hanging in there with us and for all the kindness we have witnessed in the fundraisers. We’re beyond grateful. UPDATE Thank you so much again for your amazing support over the past months! The Buccaneer has received permission (big thanks to the City of Sierra Madre!) to apply for permits that will allow us to re-open in a temporary restaurant capacity with food trucks. We’re hard at work getting the necessary paperwork submitted and moving toward that goal. At this time, we do not have an opening date, but are targeting mid-June and will provide updates along the way. Our ultimate concern is in meeting Health Department and City/County protocol in order to provide a safe space for our patrons and employees. Stay tuned, we can’t wait to welcome you back!

We want to sincerely thank the amazing friends who have set this up and its wonderful donors. My parents bought The Buccaneer in 1990 and the business is celebrating 60 years in Sierra Madre. We never could have predicted a 10-week closure and the toll it has taken. Thank you so much for the support and kindness we have seen in a time when we know everyone could use some help getting through this. We look forward to opening our doors back up and another 30 years servicing the community we love so much.

In these tough times while we’re missing our patrons, employees, bands, vendors and business as usual, we are thankful to Paul Arden for his mad painting skills..., Dee Walker for her color consultation, and James M Edwards for his referrals on resurfacing the bar and welding the women’s bathroom sink. Gerri has been cleaning, staining and polishing daily and is simply an amazing woman and business owner. Our Buccaneer community is our FAMILY and we can’t wait to welcome you all back home!
