Happy Star Wars Day!!!! May the 4th be with you!
Brea Lions are now meeting on ZOOM. Not all of us are on it yet, but we'll get there. Got to stay in touch. The funny looking one in the middle is Lion Phil Anton, "the father of football".
The Brea Lions participate every year in the city's 4 of July celebration by hosting the hula hoop contest and the pie eating contest. Both are lots of fun for the contestants and the audience.
Brea Lions will continue dark through the end of April. We will take a look at the coronavirus situation at the end of the month and decide if we will continue dark or resume our meetings and other activities. Stay safe.
Brea Lions Will be DARK: It appears that the coronavirus thing is getting serious, and even though I have not heard of any cases anywhere near our area, I feel that it is time to be prudent and cautious. Local authorities are taking precautions, and some of the local school districts are shutting down for the remainder of the month. We are being told that those of us 65 years of age and older should stay home and minimize contact with others in order to avoid infection, and s...ince most of our membership easily qualifies on that count, I have decided that we should go dark at least for our next two meetings, (19 and 26 March). At the end of the month we can see how things are going and evaluate what our course of action should be. Several of us have medical conditions, or are taking medications that weaken our immune systems, or we have family members who do, and we don't want to get sick with this or take it home to our vulnerable family members. Stay safe, be careful, wash your hands don't touch your face, etc, etc. See more
PJ donations from the Brea Lions. We donated over 180 PJs that year.
We had a great group of family and friends that attended the Brea Lions Student Speaker Contest. Four students from the Brea Olinda High School (BOHS) participated this year. The prizes for the contest winners at each level are as follows: Club Level $100.00 cash; Zone Level $150.00 cash; Region Level $250.00 cash; District Contest $4,500.00 scholarship; Area Contest $6,500.00 scholarship; Final MD-4 Contest $10,000.00 scholarship. The final MD-4 Contest winner will have received a total of cash and scholarships of $21,5000.00.
Super Bowl party at Mike's Saloon, with the Brea Lions helping out.
Thanks to PDG Matt Hunyadi of the Fullerton Lions Club for donating this great Lion decoration to the Brea Lions club. Looks great outside of the Brea Lions Scout Center, where both clubs meet.
