Dear friends of Terra’s Temple, Have you ever ended a relationship or business badly and wish you could have had support ending better? Donating to organizations that are beginning, full of vision and promise is sexy and exciting, but donating to an organization closing could feel less so.... I want to let you know that because of the way our organization was structured (and I take most of the ownership on that) we were kept alive but future events and rentals. We are closing with a significant amount of debt, which compounded quickly at the very end. Any support you can give would make a huge difference right now, and if you want to think of it as a 40th birthday gift to me, so that I don’t enter this year with quite so much debt from TT, that’s a fine way to look at it. Here is the financial transparency for those who are interested, and because I value it and want you to know where the money is going: Our rent went up $400 this past year, with an additional drop of $600 a month in donations. The gap of $1000 more in rent was too much to cover. We also lost between $5500-7500 in rentals this summer because the trackers backed out of renting at the last minute. Here’s what we need to pay: $4400 in back rent $2000 seed loan from reclaiming $3000 in deposits. $200 moving fees A lot of you have been writing to let me know that Terra’s has meant a lot to you. If you have the means to show that I’m money at this time, we would appreciate it, and of course it would be tax deductible. Thank you for your love and for all of your support. All my best, Sefora

Don't Underestimate your Impact! CASA of Contra Costa County is seeking 50 extraordinary therapists to donate one hour per week to work in-person and/or via teletherapy with a child or youth in the foster care system for issues resulting from abuse and/or neglect. Most of us can make a phone call and get expert counseling and support in no time at all. Children and youth in the foster care system wait over a year to get that same support. Many, if not all, suffer from PTSD. C...ould you wait a year? Studies show children and youth in the foster care system in therapy do better at school, with their bio and foster families, and within themselves. With your expertise, these children and youth of Contra Costa County have that chance. They are ready. Are you? If you are an LPC, MFT, PSYD, PHD, PsyD, MFCC, or LCSW or an Associate who with clinical supervision and are licensed in California, please apply now.

My dream last night asked: What do we need to confront before we die? and with this being Easter Weekend, I add the question: What is being reborn in us? Both q...uestions so relevant to our current crisis where we are confronted with death, uncertainty and the unknown on a large scale globally; while we are always in this tension or juxtaposition, with the threat of the virus and our varied responses to it, it is being illuminated more widely. As in the chinese symbol of crisis, there is a danger and an opportunity. How are we engaging in these questions when we are face to face with our physical survival? How are we, if we can, harnessing the opportunities of the current situation? It seems to me the best and worst in us humans is coming to light, the shadow highlighted also brings forth the light. It is an opportunity to grieve the losses, feel the varied feelings that are moving through us and bring forth the light and beauty in each one of us and each other. The interconnectedness with all species and elements is calling for a rebalancing of our relationships to everything. May we all be in the opportunities and the awakening of a kinder world where we care for all lives with sacredness. See more
