Approximately 25 members attended our July 23rd General Membership meeting held outdoors with proper social distancing and all wearing masks! As April is the normally scheduled Annual meeting, which was postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak, this meeting began with opening a business portion of the meeting to hold elections for the Board as well as a presentation by Treasurer John Hoopes of the 2019 expenditures and revenues. After business portion of the evening was compl...eted, Amy Beveridge, Pastor of Bethel Lutheran Church, presented the ‘impacts of the 1918 pandemic’, both in Templeton and the effects the pandemic had on churches throughout the USA. Pastor Amy presented a number of items that can have a direct comparison of what we are experiencing today, such as: Residents in Templeton wore facemasks made from gauze o Some areas of the Country arrested people who did not wear masks Churches asked congregations to trust science and not expect God to perform a miracle in order to overcome the crisis, Churches held congregational meetings outside Churches would publish sermons in the local newspaper o She noted Bethel Lutheran does something similar but online This all to say that the more things change, the more they stay the same. There was much more in her presentation that was fascinating, and the entire presentation will be available to check out at the museum in the near future (on DVD). The evening was beautiful and Carl Koiner suggested that we consider having future July meetings on the patiogood idea Carl!

Attached is July's newsletter, hopefully you will enjoy what's going on at the Museum. Please note that we are going to have a General Membership meeting on July 23rd. It will be held outside with proper social distancing. Instead of a potluck, those wishing to have a meal before the program should bring a picnic dinner, including a drink.
