Twenty-five years ago today, the Jewish world lost a giant. Yitzhak Rabin, z'l, was assassinated on this day in Tel Aviv in an act of hatred that changed the Middle East. Yet, in death have we realized that Rabin was not merely a giant in the Jewish world. He was also a world leader and statesman. His absence is a painful reminder of how rare that is. We say 'may his memory be a blessing, ' but let us say more: may his memory be a lesson in leadership and love of count...ry. Naomi Shemer translated the Walt Whitman Poem 'O Captain, My Captain' into Hebrew and set it to music to honor Yitzhak Rabin after his assassination. The original Whitman poem was to honor Abraham Lincoln. Tali Tadmor, musical director of Temple Judea created this piece. https://youtu.be/sbhcp1d6cyE

#Hakarat_Todah Our own @jacob_adamsen_ voted in his first election this year. He said, I’ve always known that voting was important, but it wasn’t until I was behind the booth that I truly felt the power of my voice. There is a lot to say about the current state of affairs in our country, and I am THANKFUL I have a say in what happens. #Hakarat_Todah #vote2020 #jewishlife #jewishfamily #synagogue #election2020

SHABBAT SHALOM! Judaism is a central part of our ECC! Jewish values, Shabbat, and holiday themes permeate our classrooms each week. Between our Shabbat celebrations with the clergy, hearing the Shofar for the High Holy Days, seeing the Torah unrolled for Simchat Torah, visiting the Sukkah, and brining SOVA and tzedakah each week... our students get to feel the JOYS of being Jewish every day! See you tonight for our Erev Shabbat Service at 6:15pm.
